If they have a store (or a distribution center) in your state then they have to charge your state's sales tax, that's the law. The only way around it for them is to have a separate company for online sales only... which they kind of do in Musician's Friend.the_grimace wrote:i thought so, but maybe guitar center is centered in Arizona. (where im currently living..) I always thought there center was in kansas though. hmm, maybe that was musicians friend.robojam wrote:Isn't it that they have to charge tax if they have a presence in the state you order from? I think I've ordered from them (from NC or SC) and not got charged tax.the_grimace wrote:I thought it would be 90$ but apparently guitar center has to be lame and charge tax on online orders. Either way, it still saved me $10 bucks!
idk though, a friend also bought from them recently, and he got charged tax, so while rare, it is a possibility that they have to charge tax. Either way i still feel ripped off paying tax online. lol, how spoiled online shopping has made us.
Anyway, I think we should move this topic to the 'discussions' thread..
