The version at the Messe was an alpha version and the beta should be started soon.
The only thing that's sure is that the development time will take less than ImpOSCar 2... :)
Here they write about a release in 8 weeks which would be around the beginning of June:

http://de-bug.de/musiktechnik/archives/3949.html

IMO this would be the earliest possible release date if no bigger problems occur so it could take a bit longer than that.
Besides removing bugs and/or adding new features during beta testing also new factory sounds have to be made...

BTW in that article on De:bug they propose a price of 150 Euros. Let's see if that's the final one.

Hermann 'The envelopes are not analog. They are calculated digitally; the result is then sent through a DAC to convert it into a control voltage for the VCF / VCA (which are analog). As for the rest... '

How can you explain then that the envs are as sharp and snappy sounding
on the real 2.3 when it only has so few cpu calculating power for the envs
as it has
, even synths that used a faster z80A ( sequential sixtrak, multitrack etc)
for env calculation were very sluggish , the ppg2.3 however has by far the best attack time i heard on any synth of its generation, it would understandable if it had the 16 bit 68000 of the waveterm B , but the 2.3 on its own
nimble cpu calculating the OS and all modulators it is short of a miracle

Bitreduced just doesnt mean playing out 8 bit waves on a 16bit dac output , if
it were that simple all bitreduction plugins would sound exactly like
playing 8 bit on a real 8 or 12 bit dac wich they shure dont
the fact that the real ppgs used 8 and 12 bit dacs is one of the things
why the plugin versions will sound different, it's not simply a question of
leaving out 4 to 8 more bits of output range available on a 16 bit dac

Are there any plans to release PPG v.3 or Largo in 64bit native?

I don't know at the moment but for Largo no 64-bit software is available so far.
I guess that first the "normal" beta must be finished before thinking about this.

Anyway i could not go deeper into the features of PPG 3.V since i'm under NDA and could get into trouble if i tell too much.
If some official person from Waldorf Music would post in a public forum like this it would be different.

For those that don't have a PPG VSTi yet; there IS a free emulation floating on the web :hihi:

... and no, it isn't in the KVR database :D

And yes, PPG 3.V is intended to become no more no less the ultimate emulation, including all the Lo-Fi elements of the original synth's sound.

Beta testing has not started yet *probably in a day or two* and then there's the factory content..so we're a way off yet.

Not so far. Testing will start very soon so it will take at least 2-3 months i guess.
2-3 months just for my own sounds and testing aswell :-o :D i don't know how long the rest of the programmers will take yet.Maybe a nice Christmas release at best :)
