Can't get the Sylenth Demo to run on my iMac

Hello everyone,

Forgive me if this topic has been debated over already, but it seems I have a weird problem.

I bought a new iMac a few days ago, and I'm finally running Logic 9, yippie :)

However, I wanted to purchase Sylenth, but first decided to try the demo. This is where things go wrong.

I downloaded the mac version Sylenth Demo. I then install it. The demo is placed in a map called Libabry/Audio/Plugins/VST. However, when I start up Logic, I can't find Sylenth anywhere. Also, when I reboot the iMac, the demo suddenly is gone, and I have to reinstall it. Very weird. Can someone please help me with this? Do I need a VST to AU converter? I don't understand, especially the fact that when I reboot, the Sylenth demo is suddenly not in the plugin folder anymore and it has disappeared, so I have to reinstall it. Edit: Also, I run Logic in 64 bit mode, because I have 8GB of RAM installed. Does that have anything to do with it? Does Sylenth even work in 64 bit mode?

What am I doing wrong here? :(

Kind regards,

Rik

Ah, thanks mate. You are right. Well that's a bit of a letdown. Does anyone know when the 64 bit version will be out?

Ah. It seems I found a solution. I changed Logic to start up in 32 bit mode. Then I loaded a Sylenth onto one of my tracks in my Logic project. Then I saved my project. Then I quit Logic, and changed it again to 64 bit mode. Now when I start up Logic, it's fine. I can use Sylenth! Awesome.

I'm having a similar problem. I downloaded the demo of Sylenth, Running a new macbook pro osx 10.6.2. I install it and I don't see anything when I search my hard drive and there is nothing in that 'library/audio/plug-ins'. Installed it multiple times. I don't see the file anywhere in my Finder or in Ableton Live.

Snow Leopard is 64-bit obviously. Does that mean I can't run this at all since there isn't a 64-bit version? Or was that only 64-bit apps like Logic 9? Thanks.

Ableton Live is a 32bit host, so it will only run 32bit plug-ins.

Make sure that you look in the Library folder on your main drive, not in your user directory.

In Ableton Live go to the menu option Live -> Preferences -> File Folder
Make sure "Use Audio Units" is On and "Use VST Plug-In System Folders" is On.
Then click Rescan Plug-Ins.

Sylenth1 is available in both VST and AU formats, so you don't need a converter. Sylenth1 is a 32bit plug-in though, so you need to run Logic in 32bit mode, or use the bitbridge in 64bit mode.
