Online Preset Browser in SynthMaster 2.5, what do you think?

Short suggestion for this online-libary/overview of the presets...
Would it be not cool, if there would be to every preset a mini-preview(mp3) for example one note over 1-2 bars?
Basses everytime on c2, pads on c3, plucks on c4 you know?

Why would you need previews? For paid "pro" presets?Cyforce wrote:Short suggestion for this online-libary/overview of the presets...

Well, I finally got the thing working in SynthMaster
Now here's the flow I'm gonna implement:
On the browser page, I'm gonna add two buttons: Online & Local.
By default Local is selected. When user clicks on Online, SM connects to the web service and downloads the online presets list. SM also filters the list so that only presets that dont exist on the user's local machine are displayed.
When the user clicks on an online preset SM downloads it and saves under presets folder.
I can also put a Sync button that downloads all online presets.

Yes, September is the month of the official release.bobbybland wrote:Oh and so am ibtw what's considered FALL? I'm about to have a nervous breakdown after I heard those new filters, and saw the new skins.2.5 is gonna smash, please say septemberish..
EDIT: In 2 weeks I have to finalize the feature set, and also we can have at least one skin ready. At that time we can release the official "beta"
This weekend I'll make a crossplatform alpha9 release!

I dont want to put extra burden on the user by requiring to login to my web site, navigate to the preset browser page, download presets, install presets, etc

Sounds like a cool idea.
My concerns would be that we would end up being overwhelmed with tons of patches with only minor variations - like what happened to a lot of DX7 libraries. So a user rating system and the ability to filter based on ratings would be highly valuable.
Also you might want to consider implementing a way so that sound designers could protect their works and prevent them from being uploaded (or modified then uploaded) to the online library. Maybe a flag within the patch that would indicate that it was protected content.

Yes that makes sense. So protected patches can not be uploaded for instance.TheSteven wrote: Also you might want to consider implementing a way so that sound designers could protect their works and prevent them from being uploaded (or modified then uploaded) to the online library. Exactly. Don't want sound designers avoiding this synth because they're afraid someone will upload their work to the online library making it instant freeware.kv331 wrote:Yes that makes sense. No worries. We'll figure out a "process" that's a win-win for everyoneTheSteven wrote: Exactly. Don't want sound designers avoiding this synth because they're afraid someone will upload their work to the online library making it instant freeware.
