Online Preset Browser in SynthMaster 2.5, what do you think?

Hi everyone,

Since I'll have some more time in July, I might add "online" preset browsing inside SynthMaster as well. This would make up/downloading presets (full & partial) very easy. And I think even if 1 in 10 users contribute to the library (doesnt have to be full presets, could be partial FX presets as well) we can grow the library in time!

This would also be a "perk" to our "registered" users

For instance, you're saving an Ensemble preset on your machine, in that instant you can save it online as well (SynthMaster could ask you at the point if you'd like to share it with the community as well?)

We can even add preset ratings, or comments etc in time. Just as in people commenting on photos on Facebook :D

Or on the browser page you can click on the Online button, and the browser suddenly shows you the preset in the online library. You can browse them live, or download all on your machine.

These are all user scenarios that comes to my mind...

It depends, if it is just a plain list of presets then I'd rather just download the lot of them in one go rather than keep going on line looking for them.

However, if it was something more unique like Microtonic's patternarium then I would be very interested. Imagine being able to select specific presets that you liked and then breeding them together to produce child presets based upon them :)

If the users are able to this, then there is no need for a huge bank with redundancies, and a portion of usable presets. So there would be only the best presets in the initial bank, and the users could get the rest via the net.
I absolutely like this idea!
I think that it should require a separate library account, so that we can browse through the creations, and even contact the maker (if allowed to).

1 thing: Just keep it simple. There are a bunch of nice ideas and stuff, but most of them feels half. Please, at least remove the outdated sticky topics.
Cheers, David!

EDIT: A nice thing came to my mind. A 'preset audition' function in the browser section, where you select one of the categorised auditions and run the active presets with it. Sorta like in Korg Legacy synths.
It'd would have an export function too, what exports mp3 files with 1 or 2 runs of the actual audition. And when you upload a preset, you would be able to upload it's audition aswell.
But I'm afraid it's too complicated, so I'm waiting for corrections and replies :P

These aren't "automatically" subscribed to, are they???

Can this menu (if it is going to be one) be disarmed in preferences, so that it doesn't show up???

Personally, I hate ANY and ALL the "web-centric" stuff in my apps.

Of course you'll be able to DISABLE it.

It's a good idea, but my feelings are mixed.

It's because I bought too many plug-ins from one company which now insists on a similar mechanism, whether or not the presets are online.

If everything works smoothly with the online preset browser, then that would be great. Everyone would go for free presets... but if payment is required, then I understand. :)

A thing like this would be a reason for me to buy your synth. I love to share my presets and this would be a very nice way. :)

i cant see Blunt selling presets that we (the users) give to the community!

i see no reason why he shouldn't sell preset packs! but community presets belong to the community, thus all legal owners of SM2 should have access to them :)

PS I think its a good idea!! :D

whats a sig?

The idea is to share the presets. My intention is NOT to sell anything. However for pro sound designers we can add feature to "audition" mp3 rendered samples of their presets ? (i.e. you can not download the preset on your machine but just listen to the rendered output for instance?)

Thank you.

The synth is ROCKING!!! (btw) Great improvements/enhancements, and very stable here.

We might have a place for "pro" sounds in this online browser as well: For instance how about if you can download and use a preset until a certain time for "demo" purposes? (Since it's a "demo" preset you cant save it though)
