Anyways, I didn't come in here to continue the arguments (for or against) but to ask if you intend to make the MDrummer (large) into a VST3 plug-in? I am seriously looking to get a virtual "drum computer", so if you are, I am going to hold off, until it's available.
Betaversion of update for all MeldaProduction effects to 3.00 including VST3 support released!

You got to give Steinberg a little bit of credit though, they did after all pioneer and advance the computer sequencer business. (I am sure that there is a more long term addition to the "complexity" of VST3 than meets the eye.)

No argue about that, though sometimes guys from Steinberg do some crazy decisions... as everyone... Unfortunately these decisions complicate lives of many devs all around the world
. But still far better than Apple
.
Anyway MDrummer will be released as VST3 as well, but you have to wait for the update
. Btw. what do you need VST3 in MDrummer for? I mean, it will basically have no advantages.

Well, I guess I am "anal" (lol) because I like "cleanliness" in terms of my system running, I don't like "old" things hanging around (stagnating my "rig", causing weird things to happen), if I can avoid it.MeldaProduction wrote:Anyway MDrummer will be released as VST3 as well, but you have to wait for the update. I also like to support Steinberg since Pro12/24 (on the Atari, in 80's) and as I decided to acquire a drum "computer" (machine), I thought I'd "support" them by buying their "new" technology. I own pretty much any available VST3 plugs out there (except for Waves, because I got a lot of their hardware still). I LIKE Steinberg, they make good stuff!
I don't particularily like the attitude of it's not good enough to be worth the effort (though I DO understand the frustration of maintainng multiple platforms, being a systems software engineer myself). We (me and a number of others I've seen posting in a variety of places) WANT VST3 plug-in. And I am not trying to be rude in any way, I do see the point made. So please don't take offense, it's my opinion and that's all it is.
Thank you very much for the information about MDrummer for VST3, you WILL gain a new user when available!!

Hehe, yeah, I always liked Steinberg stuff as well, actually since Atari too
. It's just that the way they did VST3 isn't really ideal
. VST3 may replace VST in the future, but I believe it will take several years. Anyway as I said, MDrummer will be VST3

Hello, Vojtech,MeldaProduction wrote:Well, then there is a question how to transfer the key aftertouch...
just to let you know: Steinberg has just released VST SDK 3.10 and the list of changes says that Key Pressure Aftertouch is now supported!

Thanks for letting me know Miloslav. I'm a little afraid, that aftertouch is useless for now and the wrappers as well, but it's good Steinberg is working on it. I'll have to make them do the raw MIDI, but I think that it's done this way because of Cubase, which now uses 64-bits for everything. Well, this happens when interface is defined by host, hmmm, this happens for all interfaces I guessvalsolim wrote:Hello, Vojtech,MeldaProduction wrote:Well, then there is a question how to transfer the key aftertouch...

However, the raw MIDI communication (including Program Change messages) remains impossible...

Are they enforcing sort of an abstraction layer?valsolim wrote:...raw MIDI communication .. remains impossible...

Yes, exactly. The abstraction over MIDI is a really cool thing, in my opinion. However, I think that an interface for the good old raw MIDI should be preserved as a sort of backward compatibility. Unfortunately, it didn't happen.Elektrobolt wrote:Are they enforcing sort of an abstraction layer?valsolim wrote:...raw MIDI communication .. remains impossible...

So, yeah, probably the reason why no raw MIDI is just the same reasons why virtually every developer don't want go to VST3.valsolim wrote:Yes, exactly.
