Some trackEQ, NO automation.

The title refers to the fact that I chose the wrong synths from the start.
I wanted to use 2 synths by the same developer, but with my PC I should not have chosen these.
So I could only use 5 TS Substances... this means there is no melody in sight, only ARPs.
I still think the end of this track is funny.

I hit a bump in the road; one of the synths I choose is Voyager that I use with the Lime Flavour skin. Well, I ran into a problem with the skinned version under Reaper that makes it pretty unusable. So I did spend a large part of the afternoon to figure out what was going on and that pretty much killed my inspiration

Tomorrow I'm going to try to set up a new track with another synth and see where I get with that but I'm not sure I'll make the deadline.

By my calculations, taking KVr time into account, we have 2days and about 10 hours to go.

Possibly a few hours on top of that because I will almost certainly be up late Monday night ... and so wont be getting up in time to see what sneaks in under the deadline.

So I reckon there's still time to start a track and get it in

Brave choice of instruments Yeager and others. Seems I will cop out and go for the safe Synth1 and Drumatic, but then it is a change from the usual OSCs and might mean I can finish an entry..

CW: Shame that the Voyager skin bug happened to you again. Changing to original skin will I guess be just as bad for the inspiration? I guess the presets are not interchangeable?

The original skin is a real inspiration killer for me, the presets are no problem though.

However, I already switched to Oatmeal for my second synth. I was working on a chord progression that didn't go anywhere either so now I'm going to (try to) build a rhythm track first from percussion sounds in both synths and see where that leads me. But this might be a bit 'involved' and I only have today to work on it before the deadline.

Well, I'm out.... no luck today

After switching to Oatmeal I loaded up several instances into Reaper tracks with selected sounds to get working on my composition. My 'other' synth was RMXL so I loaded several instances of that one as well. With those instances I ran into a strange midi-timing problem, apparently NOT related to 'normal' latency. I've posted to the Reaper forum to see if we can figure this thing out but for the compo there is not enough time for me left. So that's that.

I did get something out of it though; I've been out of music for several years and over the last year I've rebuild my studio and my DAW. Getting back into composing was hard but this compo did inspire me, so now I'm working on a great track, and not doing it for the compo means I don't have to limit myself to two instruments. And I am not prohibited from doing vocals as well

First composition since the last Synth1 OSC I think, been busy with work and stuff

Shame with the troubles guys, Murphy's law in action I guess..

Murphys KVR OSC law: The risk of PC/DAW/instrument failure is directly proportional to the quality and amount of work gone into the track, divided by the time left until the deadline.

Heading off this, regular prints have been made to my phone so should be able to enter with something, but want to do some more on the mix before submitting later.
