MMultiBandConvolution clicks from UI / gfx

I bought the multi band convo plug and its great except i get a lot of clicks when using it.

Im running Win 7 x64 / Ableton Live 8.15. Motu 828 mk 2 at 256 samples, although the buffer size makes no difference to the clicking.

I've got a test setup in Live, just one track with operator playing a pitch-sweep sine tone. When the MMBC plug is active and an IR is loaded (e.g. Room 5m true stereo) if i do nothing I dont get clicks (The ableton cpu meter hovers around 19%). As soon as i touch something in the ableton UI like the filter type drop-down in Operator, I get a click. Same for opening editor windows, or the preset manager in MMBC or minimising the main Live app window etc..

Just to compare (and make sure its MMBC specific) I've also got altiverb on that track with a fairly long impulse loaded. If i turn off MMBC and turn on altiverb I can do anything UI-wise (drop-downs, minimise / maximise windows etc..) and I dont get any clicks. Switch back to MMBC and the clicks return.

This wouldnt be too bad, but if i then load a longer IR into MMBC like Church - 4000ms then I get clicks without doing anything even though the CPU meter is the same as before. It gets worse if i then start doing stuff, like opening / closing the preset window in MMBC.

I also get the same problem with the same setup in Energy XT.

System :

Core 2 Duo : E6600 (Overclocked to 2.7Ghz)
4Gb Ram
Win 7 x64
Motu 828 Mk2 (44.1 KHz, 256 samples. Driver 3.7.37320)
Nvidia GTX 460 (Driver version 259.47)

Let me know if you need more info. Hope we can clear this up :)

I'm afraid we have some more reports like that and it seems some computers (so far notebooks) have these performance issues. We are working on optimizations right now and so far it seems it will be much faster soon. Sorry for inconvenience.

thanks for the response. I hope the optimizations do the trick in this case as well. good luck :)

Same here, ADK laptop, audiofire4, windows7, Live8.2, dual i7 M620@2.67gHz.
On top of it, if running asio4all, the clicks won't go away, even after deleting the MConvolution instance, just have to restart the computer.
So far the plugin is pretty useless except for short IRs.
Looking forward to optimizations as this is otherwise a great plugin.
Very frustrating ! :)

Hey folks, don't be afraid, already optimized, looks very good (I hope :D ). Just please be patient.

Hi, similar problems here on a fairly decent rig, quad AMD 4 gigs ram, win 7 pro 64...works fine in FLStudio9.5 interestingly. Problems in live and wrapped in protools, the latter is probably no surprise though. Just fyi mostly :)

PS: greetings all from maui, my first time here ;)

fantastic plugins btw, great work! hope to collect them all in time...

Cheers.

Thank you pekbro and thank you for letting me know.

Hello, had some performance issues as well. When loaded on just one channel, the PC slowes down, almost freezing. After waiting half a minute, I'm able to run the project again, but MMultibandConvolution sucks 40/50% CPU processing power. Can bring it down raising the latency to the max (1024 samples), but not solve the prob completely.

I'm on Cubase 4, XP SP3, P55 UD-3, i5 750, 4GB, RME FF400.

By the way, the plugin is great (like many others Melda plugs) and I'm sure you'll sort this out.

Cheers!

MMultibandTransient is my favourite transient designer, use it on every triggered snare / kick...it rocks!

It has been solved fortunately, though it will take some more time before we can release it, it will probably be a major update for all plugins.

And thank you!

Thumbs up!

It's nice to deal with devs like you: fast, responsive and willing to listen to the user base. You truly deserve support. And don't you even think I'm this kind with everyone ;)

Hey folks,

anyway time for some testing - please check

http://www.meldaproduction.com/download ... ontest.rar

It contains very preliminary beta :D for Win32 and Win64. Let me know how it looks.

Wonderful !
mmconvolution works really good now and is a real workhorse !

I don't regret i got it instead of Reverberate.
Except for the chorus, mmconv is more complete regarding modulation.
Thanks for the serial option, very useful ^ ^.

I have been having surprisingly good results with just the ir generator !
Actuallym using only the ir generator, what is the difference, the border between this and algo reverb ?

I have one little concern : the damping parameter in the ir generator doesn't seem to be very strong. I wouldn't mind something more radical. Of course i can still use the EQ with a modulator but it would be a great inprovement.

Actually is this possible ? >>>>
>>>> In the generator/impulse there is this volume envelope on the lower right that is directly and statically affecting the volume within the ir itself, right ?
It would be awesome to have the same but with the frequency response of the ir.
I tried to simulate with the generator some bricasti impulses and i got very close except for some hi frequency content. I tried to affect a lp filter with an envelope follower but it is not exactly the same as having the systematic behaviour that one could get by affecting directly the impulse response's frequency.
Or is it possible already ? Did i miss a point ?

Thanks for the wonderful update !!!
