I once worked for a retailer who liquidated their repair department before filing Chapter 11. They held a scratch and dent sale to cover the last executive payroll and get this--bonuses.

One year in the shop? It smells the same.

Besides, I own one. I am the kiss of death for American boutique electronic companies.
I've personally been thinking that they were about 2 fold seeing how they haven't had any new plug in's added since June 3. Thank You God for the K6 Beta testing. That means that at least they're going to have that done-FINALLY!
But seriously I was watching for that announcement.

...sooo, the news is that there is - almost - no news...

...at the moment we are down to: well, you ordered an upgrade two years ago? - for a special introductory price? - you sent in your machine twice for the upgrade and received it back without modification? - well, hate to tell you, but you're an idiot!...

...what we offer you now is that you order an upgrade with a twist for the current price - but - that's the twist - we will not install it...you have to either do it yourself or pay Rudi Linhard to do it...ah!, and btw., in case we did not mention it yet: you're an idiot - who else would wait two years, be still polite and hopeful...

...bottom line: i have removed the Receptor from my setup, and, while i have to admit that this could be a great concept, under the circumstances - aka their company-policies and business-operation - it is not for me...

Are there any other Receptor owners in Europe that have had similar - or better - upgrade luck?

I just don't understand how this could have gotten so screwed up, o8o8. I would suspect that the business relationship between Muse and your local upgrade service provider was/is not set up too well. On the other hand, since Muse did respond (eventually) to this thread, I just can't figure out how they could've dropped the ball so badly. I don't understand why they're not flying over to your home with a personal delivery of a brand new, free, R2 Pro Max, for all the frustration they've caused you.

Something is definitely weird here. I would like to suggest you open a new ticket with Plugorama, but I can understand why you want to give up.

...i dont want to go into the details, but for the sake of helping to prevent that something like this happens to other users:

- i ordered my upgrade at the 'special introductory'-rate two years ago
- MUSE was somehow struggeling back then, rumors tell something of a sick chairman, whatever, the company had problems
- MUSE sent the upgrade-parts to their local partner, Digital Audio Hamburg, but they forgot twice to include the required harddrive, therefore the upgrade failed
- this was when Digital Audio decided to drop support for MUSE
- a few months ago MUSE partnered with EMC in Germany
- the EMC chairman told me in person during the Synthesizer-Meeting München, of which i was a co-organiser, that they are willing to give me the box with the pieces, but they would not install the upgrade - in case i want the upgrade made by them i would have to pay an hourly rate to Rudi Linhard who would do the upgrade

...that is not what i had ordered two years ago...

- when i talked to MUSE yesterday, they insisted that i should have to pay the current price for the upgrade, and that they see no problem (apart from my claim being ridiculous)...

...i have the conversation from their support system, which contains those words like 'ridiculous' and 'i see no problem', printed out - well see what i can do with this...

...it might be that they are not clear with what the local provider has to expect and has to do...it also seems there is close to zero communication between MUSE and local providers...

...i think i know why that is: i am pretty good at not showing my anger...i was really really really nice and patient, said thank you all the time and was willing to do whatever was required to make this thing happen...

...that is most probably why Kevin thought he gets me to pay the full price as it is now instead of having to fulfill a two years old order - and also, that there would be no compensation required (which i did not ask for, btw. - but nothing was ever offered either)...

...but i told them before last weekend - that is when the Synthesizer Meeting München took place - that, if it doesnt work out this time with EMC, i will publish the story of how this whole thing went...i am just thinking about the means i'll choose...perhaps some nicely formulated article in some international magazine...we'll see if online or print...

...i have something to add - it was suggested to me to file a complaint here:
You may want to consider filing a complaint against Muse with the Better Business Bureau. Here's a link: http://goldengate.bbb.org/.
...i have only had a quick look at their site, but if the service works like it was suggested to me it might be a good idea to add that information to this thread for reference...

This is really a sad story. If you have all the parts for the upgrade and are willing to drive to Eindhoven I'd be willing to help you out for free. Downside is that it is 710 km away, but maybe you can make a nice touristic trip out of it... ;-)

...thank you for the encouragement...

...while i'll be in Bonn end of the month - and closer to Eindhoven ;o) - for a Synthesizer-Meeting there, i have no plans to buy the upgrade-parts as they were offered to me now...

Okay, I misunderstood. I hope you didn't already pay for the upgrade?
