What synth did you use?
Synth1 (heheh!)
I think you did some precise eq tweaking also.
Nope. It's a *very* simple patch - all I tweaked was the Amp Env settings and the degree of Osc Detune, which took me no more than a couple of minutes.
The original has just a bit more clear sound
Yes, the Synth1 version sounds slightly grainy to me and there's an obvious visual difference between the waveforms (though adding aciddose's HPF settings brings them closer).

Anyway, it was all a little bit of mischief intended to redress the balance somewhat with regard to the (IMO) unwarranted ridiculing bwwd received earlier in the thread, after he'd dared to suggest that Synth1's supersaw might share some of the sonic character of the JP's. (TBH I was pretty sceptical about that claim too, but then Urs posted the real JP8K example and we already had the .mid file, so I thought I'd give it a go. I was, to say the least, fairly surprised at how close it was).

But comparisons using one god-awful fromage-de-fromages tarnce .mid file is not a definitive test by any means - and no doubt a more rigorous analysis would show that Synth1's supersaw is some way off a clone of the JP's.

Equally, I'm sure that Urs' implementation will be a good deal better than either Synth1 or JP8K's. 8)

Is supersaw used for anything else?

You gotta be kidding :hihi: :-o and you didn't use any eq? WOW, well never underestimate the power of Synth1. :)

If he manage to combine the original chorus (saw phase interaction or whatever it is) with the hifi sound but not forgetting the mid freq tone flavor then it's a winner.

i was saying this since ever, but i got laughed at... here i go again:
don't ever underesthimate this crappy little synth! and to top that:
besides the aliasing the supersaw in synth1 is one of the best there is.

:hihi:

BTW: The synth1 example being so close didn't surprise me. I pretty much use synth1 like a JP8k, even down to using a similar color scheme.

they use supersaws in jpop, which is pretty much super ridiculous (even more?) anthem trance.
Free plug-ins for Windows, MacOS and Linux. Xhip Synthesizer v8.0 and Xhip Effects Bundle v6.7.
The coder's credo: We believe our work is neither clever nor difficult; it is done because we thought it would be easy.
Work less; get more done.

Aye, 'more than the sum of its parts' seems apt. ;)

I knew of Synth1's supersaw ability too. :)

(kidding.. I really think you can. :o)

I told you guys, i sold JP-8000 for a reason and i dont regret it.It was so cool when i tweaked both of them and played synth1 with JP-8k through midi feed one after another without knowing which is which.Only bass is not as big as i would want to in synth1.
Basically i bought it to learn synthesis and find out how some patches are made ,how supersaw is implemented and because... i dreamed about it many times  ,i ported some patches to synth1 and they sound very similar.

Post

im curious how is the development going :)

Post

wondering the same thing and discovered if you move the Shape parameter in Helix (when using "Wave Oscillator") changes the saw to a more JP-8000 saw. Using the Highpass parameter is similar. However, you can also achieve this by using a very gradual highpass filter (3dB per octave), which you can approximate with a good EQ.

Slightly more detuned

But basically similar to Urs original, no eq, just the Unison and Chorus effects in Synth1.

Can't under-estimate the beast that is synth1 at all.

ACE does a pretty impressive supersaw ;) (Dont shoot me)
Don't trust those with words of weakness, they are the most aggressive

Development is going rather well. It's got a name now: Diva

It's merely a project on the side though, there are more important things in short sight. I hope to get back to higher pace next year!
