Sorry, but I can't leave it this way.penguinfromdeep wrote:Yep, if it's called emulation the target is to have 100% copy (of course this is probably never possible), as for example video game console emulators emulate their hardware counterparts. They strive for perfection and anything else is considered lame. In my opinion plug-in "emulations" should do the same, that is if they want to be called emulations.
I'm using videogame console emulations (and VST/VSTi emulations as well), and they all do something BETTER than the original.
Example:
Better visuals (or sound in terms of plugins), unlimied usage (in terms of plugins), I'm not scared to damadge anything (my Sega Dreamcast is handled with silk gloves, since I can't get SPAREPARTS here in Germany anymore), etc.
Of course, emulations should be 100% spot on to be "perfect", but:
1) in a discrete, overprocessed mix, you give a funk about it anyway
2) if it does "more" and performs "better" than it's initial device that way, why shouldn't you go for it?
I'm pretty much fine with 90-95%, since there are NO 100% emulations out there anyway.
