I'm very close with finishing up the stereo transformation guys :)

I hope tomorrow I'll have a new release, after fixing some other reported issues as well.

Here are my *new* top-end soft-synths:

Electrax,
DUNE,
PPG V.3,
and:

SYNTHMASTER!

I've experienced quite a few crashes of late using *.sfz files inside Synthmaster, admittedly; but I consider that all part of 'growing pains'....

It would be great if at some point in time the specifics of the 'supported' Synthmaster SFZ spec were spelled out, so that I could re-write some of my existing files for 'safe' use in Synthmaster.

But: Who knows? Maybe I'm at fault; not using Synthmaster in a 'correct' fashion...

It should further be noted that most of the SFZ files that I've used in Synthmaster are supporting STEREO *.wav files; and that some of wave files have been 'upsampled' to 48khz for broader use.

Stereo WAVs will play in version 2.5.1.45

If you could send me a crashing SFZ I can fix the issue right away!

Hey, you havent seen the new oscillators though! Imagine a SFZ osc playing with multiple voices, detune&pan spread. Sounds really full/thick, you know what I mean :)

I'm REALLY excited about the future of Synthmaster! You've been working really hard on it for a long time; I'm impressed as heck with all of the progress that you have made! VERY well done!

I would love to send you a typical sfz file for you to test, but the terrible dilemma about having files that are licensed for my own use, is that I risk being out-of-compliance by 'sharing' such files even for testing and/or developement purposes with another user!

It's a ridiculous state of affairs that we've gotten ourselves into...

I'll let you know how it goes with the SM x.45 release; if it helps to 'downsample' the sfz audio files to 44,100 khz to shore-up Synthmaster's stability, then that's what I'll do.

But I'm not completely convinced that this is a Synthmaster issue per se; I might be inadvertantly 'crashing' the program by doing something that SM wasn't designed to do.

Regardless: I'm a Synthmaster fanboi! :D

Indeed....

This sounds great, but SM has top notch sound now but this idea could put KV331 over the top. I do feel VERY fortunate that I bought it when I did as it was a GREAT deal! Even at the $99 level its a great deal. I see a $150 price mark in your future and it will still be good. Thanks KV331

You dont have to send me the wave files. Just the SFZ description so I'll try to understand if something is wrong (i.e. I can replace the WAV files with my local files and test?)

The price increase will come through more content, i.e. the base price will still be $99 ($49 academic), but the "expansion" banks will be sold separately.
That's gonna be our "business model" in 2011. And of course we're gonna bundle SM with the expansions as well, and sell at a discounted price.

The more that I thought about it, the more that I think that you're right.

Contents of the SFZ File PM'd---My guess is that the specifics of the associated wave files that you use will matter; they are all stereo, looped, and up-sampled to 48khz.

Thanks a lot for taking the time!

This is what happens when I have an sfz file loaded, and try to switch the OSC from 'Basic' to 'Wavescan'

I get a crash too, when I switch a stereo oscillator (with 8x unison) to an SFZ wave

Not knowing much about the different formats, do soundfonts just refer to SFZ or SF2 files as well?

soundfonts are SF2. SM doesnt support them.
