Thanks!
But I have a favour to ask you to put some more sounds of the
original-factory bank to the finalversion. So I like to have my
favorite sounds as that time like "Res Bell; Strings II; Poly Brass;
Bubbles". Thanks.
To be honest, I don't think I will include them, due to copyright reasons, and Roland is known to be VERY picky on that. I am already quite nervous releasing the synth and might have to change the GUI (I hope I can keep it...). But I can definitely pm you the banks, if you want.

Cheers,
Martin

Thank's - that would be great. You'll change the GUI? It's not enough
to change the name (but it is); the logo? I think it's ok like it is....

I will definitely keep it like this (or quite similar) as long as I am not directly approached to change it. I might try to make it a bit smaller or more compact, though. I am developing it on a 21'' screen, where the size seems ok (even small) but i admit that it might be on the large side for laptops.

But first priority now is sound and functionality...

the sounds sound great Schiffbauer !

(maybe the audio peaked in the red at some points or is it part of the sounds ?
awesome patches anyway :D)

could the copyright issue be solved if the factory patches are renamed Res Ball, Strangs II, Poly Bros, Bubblz etc ... :P

Post

Thanks - the high audio peaks result from overdriving (too much Level)
on recording. The pure original sound is clear. That's only a little
assortment of sounds, I've patched randomised from my paper-soundDatasheets.

Now, because of Martin's genius work, this sounds come to life again....

Post

cool ! I'll be looking forward to hearing more :D

& indeed Martin, you doing an amazing work,
I hope that Roland won't hear about it before you release it because they'll surely want to buy the code from you & release it themselves, & then we would have to pay a LOT to get our hands on it

Who wants to hear more - a further little bunch of my patches
for the JX8P

- Martin, your vsti is great - so much, that I
dreamt of it last night - thats a pleasure.

So, after my work I just had to patch some old presets and
made a second recording....no external FX, just a little smoothy
Reverb.....

Some truly great sounds.
I have just downloaded the synth to try too,

thx

are you planning to support all the waveforms?

edit: nevermind - i often forget the jx- don't have the alpha-juno waveforms.

Free plug-ins for Windows, MacOS and Linux. Xhip Synthesizer v8.0 and Xhip Effects Bundle v6.7.
The coder's credo: We believe our work is neither clever nor difficult; it is done because we thought it would be easy.
Work less; get more done.

how CPU intensive is this compared to say Synth1?

When Martin's Final-Version is out, I'll be upload a big
soundbank for the masses here....or I'm mailing Martin,
so he will be provide this bank for the users

I really like your patches. I am looking forward to see the whole banks, once the synth is finished. Thanks for offering them!

Cheers,
Martin
+1 Thank you. Looking forward to it. Some great patches in there! And yes, not surprisingly .. very JX8p  thanks to Martin's wonderful job.

p.s. Schiffbauer, how do you repatch them? Could it be automated somehow?
The more I hang around at KVR the less music I make.

Nice synth, thanks.

btw. the jx-chorus doesn't seem to be working for me in Live, doesn't output any signal.

These are all sounds, I'd created about twelve years ago on my hardware
JX8P. I'd no sysex-editor - so I wrote down all the parameters in
(paper-)datasoundsheets and ring-files. I'm happy now, that I did not
throw them away, as I sold my JX someday. There are about 2.500 Patches,
I'd created - so they come to new life. And the good is: Martins VSTi
sound exactly the same like the hardware. Much work - but it's worth it!

When the final is ready, I'll be recreate some banks for it!! Maybe all...

But for sysex: Martin will be integrate eventually in the final a sysex-import..

Much work indeed! :o Respect! And thanks again.

It is definitely more CPU hungry than synth1. I cant compare to the latest version of synth1, since I am still using an Athlon XP, which does not have SSE2 instructions. The old synth1 was not using more than about 5% on my machine, while the pg8x can go up to 20%. But I hope that I can still reduce that a bit.

I should add, that I am already quite happy with the CPU consumption now, considering that my initial version, which produced an acceptable sound went up to 50% on my CPU. Translating the code for the oscillators and filter from C++ to assembler, making use of the SSE vectorization I could reduce it a lot, since now the two oscillators per voice are calculated simultaneously.
