>>> Zebrify-01 DOWNLOAD <<<
(please see the Zebrify-01 Submission Thread for more details).

Voting rules:
  • Zebrify 1 has simple rule; submit a preset to manipulate in any way the famous Amen Brother drum break.
  • All votes are appreciated, and however one decides which patches stand out is the right way. A little feedback explaining votes is very welcome as well, just keep it short and to the point.
  • Be sure to use Zebrify as an insert channel effect and not a partial send effect.
  • Be sure to set your DAW to 137.78 BPM before playing the Amen Break as a loop.
  • Be sure to use a brick-wall limiter after Zebrify! Some of the feedback presets have some crazy gain!
  • The presets have not been normalized and are presented to you as they were submitted. It's up to you, the voters, to decide if a preset appeals to you (clipping, too quiet, or just right).
  • Results will be tabulated one week from the date of this post (3/7/2011, 10:00am UTC -6) when the poll stops running.
  • The preset awarded the most overall points wins. Best of luck to all the entrants!
Patch authors:
Please post your (numbered) first, second, and third place selections from this set in this thread. Please no hinting or saying which preset(s) are yours. Let's keep it anonymous until voting is closed. As a patch author you must vote, and you are not allowed to vote for your patches!

Everyone else:
Anyone is welcome to vote and if you wish to do so, please post your (numbered) first, second, and third place selections from this set in this thread.

Point Value:
Points are awarded by voters in the following manner:
  1. 1st Place -> 3 points
  2. 2nd Place -> 2 points
  3. 3rd Place -> 1 point
Votes by patch authors and everyone else are weighed equally.

Results:
The winning patch author will receive their choice of 1 free u-he NFR (not for resale) software product.

Thanks for doing the honours Brian! :)

Just noticed that this is the Zebrify-01 Contest - will there ever be a Zebrify-02?

Post

Ok... let me be the first one to vote. So, here I go:

3 pts: Zebr-a-men 10 - If there were patches like lite version and full version, then I would call this the full version. All 4 XY pads have been used in a very interesting way and looking at the synthesis page, it's certain that a very high amount of effort has been put into this patch. Kudos to the author.

2 pts: Lowlands+ - This might be a personal thing but the bass sound in this patch is one of my all time favorite bass sound. 2 XY pads have been used in a very creative way.

1 pts: Chippy - I like the simplicity of this patch. There is no presence of the elements of amen break whatsoever, it turns it into a nice metal percussion kind of thing. I like it.

Good luck to all the contestants. May the best zebrifyer win :D

Now, where is that Bazille contest thread...

Post

Here are my votes.

1. WindUp - Just love that weird tension sound :)
2. Zebra-a-men-9 - Awesome sonic assault!
3. Dub-FX - Lo bit, and dirty. Very nice wiring of the pads.

Best regards,

Gino

If we ever did a 'Zebrify-02 Contest', would a freestyle 'make-any-patch' contest appeal to enough people to make it worthwhile?

Post

Hi,
My votes are:
1. Dub FX
2. Lowlands
3. Zebramen 9

Also I would be interested in another Zebrify contest, Hakey.

Thanks
moocher

Post

really impressive what this little contest shows
from the possibilities of zebrify

a shame we have only such few contributions,
but many thanks to everyone who did enter

so I have to choose :-(

1. crosstalk = 3 points
2. washing machine = 2 points
3. chippy = 1 point
sound is vibration, vibration is life

There's a lot of crazy stuff in here; I love it!

1. WashingMachine - I'm really liking the ambient rhythms you can get from this. One of my favorite variations is with XY1 at bottom center and XY2 near the top right. Sounds like some factory machines having a rave.

2. CrossTalk - This one is really good if you keep the XY controller in motion to get different kinds of "talking".

3. WindUp - After the first few moments, I fully expected this to continue increasing like a Shepard tone. It makes for a pretty good and quick dubstep buildup.

Just for fun, I loaded up WashingMachine and CrossTalk together, and the combination was also a blast. A don't forget to try two WashingMachines side by side with different settings!

This is looking to be a close one...I sure hope we get a few more non-authors to vote to help decide a clear winner!

@hakey, I wasn't implying a Zebrify-02. I always number them just in case though. :)

Yes, I thought that was probably your reasoning! :)

Still, having messed around with Zebrify enough to realise its potential for all sorts of FX, the idea of a freestyle Zebrify contest appeals to me now. The question is whether it would appeal to enough people to make it worthwhile...

I just realized that maybe people were turned off by the Zebrify contest because we used a sample. Sample mangling and the pure synthesis of Zebra are very different.

I know I've said this a few times, but if you synch Zebrify (I send it a note at the start of a song) it's at least twice as useful from a musical sense.

For example my original contest entry was "More Cowbell!" (inspired by the SNL skit for B.O.C. ) it got louder and louder and went into a crazy cowbell solo, but since I couldn't synch, well sadly I had to give up on it.

We all know that Zebra is uber flexible, but if you add a synched Zebrify to it, it's insane (in a good way :) ).

Best regards,

Gino

Not to say that the particular sample used may have put some people off - I know it quickly wore thin on me!

Like you said if MSEGs and LFOs automatically synced to the host it would open up many more possibilities. I really hope Urs considers this as a future update (so long as it's possible).

AARRGHH! Ok Shhhhhh! Ok, I just installed Windows 7(Mostly great! OS, so far)
I've installed all my my Uhe stuff seems to have registered ok. BUT, it did not create the zabrafy preset folder, I've tried creating one my self but its not showing up in zebrafy's gui :dog: any ideas? :help:

I also tried the drag and drop into the gui method but no dice.
>>Official feature request for the drag and drop function while I'm thinking of it.<<
