+1

It really sounds like "we already got your money, so please back off and don't bother us asking for more you greedy customers :x "

Which is just as well because it had reached a point where it was well tested and all the bugs had been worked out. It's now frozen in a very stable state.
Geez...go and search the u-he section yourself. You won't find a quote from HZ himself, but a very very undoubtful hint from Urs about the request.
Again, HZ is (I'm forced to assume) in SB's employ. Of COURSE he wants someone else to make a Note Expression capable plug-in, then he'll have two!
AdmiralQuality wrote:Well exactly, here's a product that's not broken, yet some will unfortunately perceive it as substandard because it doesn't implement new "features" that it never needed in the first place to meet its design goals 100%.
And you think instead of explaining publicly why your product doesn't need VST3 it's better to slam on VST3, Steinberg and all the mean markting BS altogether?
I am explaining publicly why my product, most other devs' products, and most customers don't need VST3. That's all I'm doing.

You might be the "perfectionist musician who has an advanced understanding of the underlying technology and how to use it", but you fail at understanding consumer needs and embracing and adopting new technology.
Funny, I could have sworn I was a consumer too. Knowing how to produce these types of products doesn't automatically void your humanity you know. I resent the course they've taken equally from a professional developer AND paying customer standpoint.

Sooner or later that will have an impact on your sales. Often enough it just happens to be about the represantation of your company and your products = marktening rather than the actual technology. Hopefully by the time you made enough money to be not worried about that anymore ;-)
Well this is the thing. A corporation can't ever make enough money to not worry about it anymore. So if they're ever "done", everything works 100%, they'll just have to break it again so they can start selling the next bill of goods.

for the record, that's about the stupidest f**king assumption in the entire thread.

You think he doesn't get compensated for an endorsement like this?
Hans Zimmer wrote: I can tell straight away when somebody brings in a Logic track — I know exactly what it was recorded on. Part of why I like Cubase is that I don't sound like everybody else. I mean we never use library sounds. You don't really want to hear a sound you have in your 160-million-dollar movie in somebody else's movie in the theater next door so everything we use is made from scratch. And so it's very important to me that the quality of the software ensures that what ever work I put into it, it isn't going to get colored.
 Precious! Lots more to giggle at in the full "interview"...

Dunno, ask Urs. (But Urs doesn't have pictures of him all over his website either.)

That interview is truly hilarious. Mostly due to all the contradictions.

AQ, you have no idea how right you are about those two plugins (Zebra2 and Uhbik-A)

About everything else, not.

;) Urs

I was being sarcastic btw.

That's because I find those pictures often weird. See yourself:

No, I dont think anyone needs an endorsement to have an opinion, or to make a technical request of a developer they have a good relationship with.

I also think he gets paid considerably more for his day job (for which those features might be useful to him) than he would be to make a minor (refusable) technical request of a developer.

i think what AQ says about poly aftertouch is correct - he's just making the wrong point or he's going on the wrong angle here.

the spec was there since 1983 - nobody cared. nobody cared.

people only care now because it's a marketing gimmick sold by stainberg.

in 1983 this was also "totally cool, rad and the most useful thing ever, dudes", but guess what? try using it and you'll figure out it's a damn gimmick.

evidence you say? take a look at the past thirty years.

Nope. You do that here in this very thread. Although this is a public forum rest assured the majority won't learn about your little disquisition and I guess that's a "benefit" for you and your potential customers.

Maybe in a day or two you should re-read your posts and you may notice how biased you are. I won't argue with you about the technical side of things, but let me tell you that from an end users point of view you cast a damning light on yourself and your company. All I read is "marketing BS", "employed by SB", "customers don't need VST3" and other blah blah blah. If you don't like what SB does, fine with me, if you don't offer VST3 for any of your products, fine with me, but please don't tell ANYONE what they need and what not!

Uh oh. Really? Maybe you haven't noticed, but not everyone likes fish for dinner. OK, my cats do, but they won't buy from you either, because your catfood doesn't support VST3 :P

It really depends. I sold at least 10 licenses of some of my stuff just because I have a *working* implementation of PolyAT. That's what user feedback indicates. As it took me maybe 2 hours to get it going properly, these were some of the best paid hours I ever had.

what, you don't like fishsticks?

urs; of course i was making a generalization when i said nobody cares. some people do, but ten? you'd have to agree the generalization is practical, no?

Oh, of course I do, but that's not to be considered fish. My wife calls them cardboard :hihi:
