That sounds a lot like SolarisUrs wrote:Tyrell is a rather small fork of DIVA.necho2 wrote:Maybe I missed it.... but is TyrellN6 a "fork" of DIVA or did DIVA become TyrellN6?
I'm absolutely loving Tyrell. The most fun I've had with a synth in ages. So much fun, in fact, that I spent most of Sunday recreating the Bladerunner end credits theme with it
The gist of DIVA is the ability to exchange components with different character. So you could have the Oberheimesque filter of TyrellN6 or a rather Korgish filter... that kind of stuff...
Cheers,
Urs

Well... the difference is, Solaris is a very, very complex beast. Solaris has a lot in common with Zebra (4 of everything)aMUSEd wrote:That sounds a lot like Solaris
@hakey: TB303 would be cool, but I just can't get over the horrendous price for a used one. I won't emulate anything I havn't got physically in the studio, so the 303 will have to wait until people calm down a bit.

Yeah it is - although in some respects it's much simpler than Zebra (I have the plugin version). But it does have this nice ability to swap osc and filter models - not just types but say between a CEM and a Juno, SSM, Moog or other filter model.Urs wrote:Well... the difference is, Solaris is a very, very complex beast. How is progress coming along with diva?Urs wrote: Well...
It would be cool to build a controller with components from for instance http://lividinstruments.com/hardware_builder.php for use with your synths

Not at all, I'm afraid. We're still working on the launch of the new website along with some soundbanks for Zebra and a new customer support tool. It's a necessary step and it's all gonna be great and all, but it stalls all other developments.Crackbaby wrote:How is progress coming along with diva?Urs wrote: Well...
Also, Diva might take a while. I still havn't got all analog synths needed for proper emulation. And of course, emulating all that stuff properly takes a few days too.

Yep, they are still silly money (though, I think, considerably lower than their mid 90s peak?).Urs wrote:TB303 would be cool, but I just can't get over the horrendous price for a used one.
What about an x0xbox or just DIY build the interesting circuits?
Failing that anyone got a 303 they don't mind lending Urs for a couple of months?

My thoughts exactly!hakey wrote: Failing that anyone got a 303 they don't mind lending Urs for a couple of months?
I could lend my little Doepfer Dark Energy box when interested

There's an offer I think... but...Howard wrote:Anyone here got a Moog 15 to lend Urs?
OK, I suppose not...
Sincerely though, I think Diva doesn't need to be an all-in-wonder machine. There are some neat algorithms around already. I think we can do a really cool thing without bloating the project too much. However, HZ's intervention about the Moog-style vs. the Roland-signature is something to consider.

Fair enough, just thought that the 303 accent behaviour not being found in any synth outside of a couple of bespoke emus, having it in DIVA might have drawn interest from the acid/techno crowd (though perhaps that's not necessarily a good thing?
).
And Tyrell can already do some Rolandy acidy stuff, so it could have been an interesting fit.

Yes, might be... (I'm just so focussed on webstuff now... havn't put much thought in Diva lately... can't wait to get started though)

Whatever else may surface in DIVA, I think even just having genuinely good emu's of voice components from Roland analogues like the JP-8 and Juno 60 would make the package a hit (Tyrell is certainly promising). If you could do for Roland analogue emulation what OP-X has done for Oberheim emulation, that would be a hell of a thing.

Being a Mac user, I would love it if DIVA could also handle the Oberheim emulation. Mac users don't get the choice of using OP-XVectorman wrote:Whatever else may surface in DIVA, I think even just having genuinely good emu's of voice components from Roland analogues like the JP-8 and Juno 60 would make the package a hit (Tyrell is certainly promising). True, I tend to forget that, having been recording on Windows for the last five years.rockin1 wrote:Being a Mac user, I would love it if DIVA could also handle the Oberheim emulation.
