the 'thanks' meant also something likevalley wrote:I'm guessing the thanks meant you wished me to write this plug? If so I did, and you can get it here:
http://www.adbe.org/volpan.zip
real basic 'cos I'm sure Jules will address this issue pretty soon...
'thanks for being so helpful as allways' - but yes,
I'd like to have this plugin.

d'oh...
Sorry Rob, my fingers were on auto-pilot, that should have just been a .dll extension not .zip..
I'll fix the link.

b.t.w.: I'm really wondering why I haven't noticed this problem earlier

I've never noticed myself. In fact, I remember asking Jules for a panning law feature, assuming there was none.

I would hazard a guess that Jules is just using a straight:
left = left * pan
right = right * (1 - pan)
construct. You can check this by measuring the output. If center gives a dead 50% cut then this is what Tracktion is doing. I can't be bothered to test it, 'cos I like cross pan rather than cross fade mixing.

Someone mentioned that the latest update of SX 2 has more versatile panning features. I'm curious.

while we're at it..... if T2 is skinable... this would be the greatest thing in the world.... oh my god.... I wouldn't go away from the PC anymore...
I'd pay a hundred bucks more when it's skinable
