In that you tube video looks like you don't know what you're doing, trying every single parameter out, one by one.

Also you're not 'designing' anything, you're just tweaking existing sounds.

The guy probably has more years programming synths than your years old.

I have to say, that when I watched the video by DrGonzo I got the impression that he was changing parameters so often to show people how versatile the synth can be, rather than "hmmm let me see what happens if I tweak this, then this, then this..."

I thought the video was good, I certainly didn't know Nexus was as flexible as it is, especially after so many years of people here shouting "It's just a rompler! You can't change the sounds!"

Completely right! You can do a whole lot of cool stuff with the LFOs - but my personal favourite sound mangling tool in Nexus is the compressor. Crazy stuff. And the equalizer also has a very nice character.

I'm so damn happy people are starting to see Nexus is not a preset-playing rompler. It's actually a very cool synth when you start digging.

I can't make a track of it and then say that "I" did that. Especially if you use the drumloops.. Add Catanya to that and where did talent go? No more than a few chords away from making a great sounding track.

Ok, so it's not that easy if you want to make a immortal anthem, but it's enough to make some generic progressive house.

Imagine those who pioneered progressive trance/house/whatever.. The talent they had and how they worked hard to get that huge sound. When there was no solid walls around the genre, when you had nothing to compare to (emulate?).
Now you get that sound in a expensive(?) plugin. Back then every lead was unique. Now they all sound the same. Even the chords don't make any sense. Listening to the current tracks make me feel like they're laughing at us "Look what we can get away with haha!"

the eq though? that's just rjb biquad from musicdsp (same one used in virtually every plugin or audio software, ever). although i'm not sure which eq you mean, since i wrote a adaptive q ten band that could have ended up in there.

aciddose, i remember you saying that you only could store reverb settings on your reverb if you bought it.. I can't see how you can buy it on your website. There's donation but no info on storing presets. (Xhip Reverb rules.. Sounds very Nexus
(unfortunately i had made the best preset ever and it wasn't stored >.<)

i'm actually still working on that. a few people have thrown me off complaining about the gui again. i'm leaning more toward just getting the effects out there and worrying about tweaking them later on.

now i'm going between low/high price again. trust me, it's not easy to decide on these sorts of things. obviously asking $300 for most software is pretty well totally insane. there is no way you can justify the effort invested into it compared to the income at such a price without it being fairly complicated. at what point does it make it ok for someone to get rich without putting in an effort significant enough compared to others? it's just a completely subjective issue. there are i'm sure plenty of construction workers who put in a lot more effort for a lot less.

the real tricky issue is when you realize that asking too little for a product, generally asking what is "fair" will actually harm the popularity of the product!

so let's say at 200 you make the same number of sales as 300, at 400 half as many, but at 100 a quarter as many. aiming for fairness you're maybe going to go very slightly above 200 to cover variations and risk. aiming for profit it's a no-brainer you'd go straight for 299.

anyway i think it's just retarded and i'd like to get the best product out there as quickly as possible at a fair price. i'll be surprised if that doesn't happen very soon.

of course a consequence of that "fairness" is that i'm sure it'll be cracked the next day too

if i want to become an evil corporation and force users to buy dongles and so on i'll do that as an upgrade

2. Big price ? Ohh f*** that. It's reasonably priced. I mean, try to sample some hardware or even software, make the sound "out of the box" (so it almost won't require additional tweaking) and then you'll quickly change your mind

I can't afford Nexus because Music Production is mainly my hobby. I already spent too much for it - actually it's some kind of addiction. Everybody needs to have one. My is: chocolate and wasting money for hardware / software knobs, sliders . Still, I could have worse addiction so Im not going to complain

Like I said, even if I can't afford Nexus, I believe that such "ready to go" tool for Dance / Trance / EDM music is really a great thing. After all, there are a lot of people who just want to compose, which not necessary mean scrolling through 20 software synths, 50 soundbanks, thousands of sounds which you, at the end, need to tweak further.

Everything about Nexus2 is ideal for what i want.. new GUI and features alone as i said make this a bargain price and like i also said when it goes x64 i will be first in line at the reFX shop
Roll on 1st December will hook up great with Studio One V2
