zebra arpeggiator playback errors ?

when playing back patterns from the zebra arp, I have to continually stop / start to get it to playback from the correct start point. It's a bit of a drag when trying to write stuff if every time you stop it to edit it you have to hit play/stop 5 times to get it to play right... am I doing smth wrong or is this a bug ?

Read p64 in the manual "Step parameters" (and the rest of that chapter) - that should help!

Ah sorry this hasn't actually helped me. From what I can tell you seem to be inferring that the "next, same, first, last" settings are where I need to look. I already had them all set to next and the pattern plays correctly some times, when changing them to the other option it actually completely changes the pattern rather than stops it playing incorrectly. Not really sure what to do about this... hmm
EDIT, on further investigation I think it's my sequencer (reaper) as I cannot make the arp play incorrectly when triggering with my keyboard so it's smth in reaper's playback. Thx for the help tho

Try changing the first step to first, and the last step to last.
Leave the in between as default.
If that doesn't work, then try different combinations of settings until it's working the way you want it to.
It also matters to the amount of notes used as well.

The Zebra ARP does no input note quantization. This means if you are off a very small amount on your playing the next series of notes can sound different. For example:
C,E,G hit at the same time will produce pattern X.
C,G, then E a very short time later(*) will produce pattern Y.
The way around this is either (a) practice playing or (b) write the notes to a midi lane and quantize in your DAW.
---
(*) - My very rough estimate of a short time is somewhere between a couple of milliseconds to around 250 milliseconds.

I think you have misunderstood, this is a problem happening with a midi lanebmrzycki wrote:The Zebra ARP does no input note quantization. This means if you are off a very small amount on your playing the next series of notes can sound different. For example:

I'll try that when I get a secind... cheers for the tip.mcnoone wrote:Try changing the first step to first, and the last step to last.

Also, Ollie (mod/dev over at the reaper forums) thinks it's a host sync issue (maybe). Are there any host sync options on Zebra ? I told Ollie that I thought there aren't as I don't see anything like that. Does this seem a possibility tho ?

tried switching the first step to first and the last to last and then realised I have the arp playing backwards so reversed it and tried that. It didn't work, it actually altered the pattern (as I suspect it should do as it alters the order of notes in the chord the arp responds to) and the inconsistency remained as before.

Yes - only quantize the first note in each chord!

No, don't do that. The trick is NOT to quantize anthing but first notes (in chords), otherwise the host can reorder them.CandeFan wrote:Did you trie Quantize? Q in Reaper.

ok so i need to essentially offset the second and third note of each chord just a cat's whisker, maybe play with order until I get desired result. will give that a bash thx Howard
edit have to pop out but will try as soon as i can
