I'm really diggin' that last Filter Module: the Sallen Key, revision 2...
It's so wonderfully squeaky and dirty and shiny!

"This comes at the cost of quite a high CPU-hit, but we think it was worth it: Diva is the first native software synth that applies methods from industrial circuit emulators (search for "PSpice") in realtime! Especially the behaviour of our zero-delay-feedback filters, when pushed to the limit, demonstrates the advantages of this groundbreaking approach."hakey wrote:Charming!!!Howard wrote: End of discussion...
And, regardless of the demonstrate/s issue, that sentence just is not correct English (if you think it is, then you've spent too long thinking in another language)! Urs explicitly asked for a read through, I thought that was the kind of thing he'd want pointing out. I guess not...![]()

I don't see any subject/verb problem here. Behaviour is singular even if it's describing multiple objects. However, although its use is not really wrong, losing the word 'especially' entirely wouldn't change the overall meaning and would make the sentence look a bit tidier. A lot of people are taught you can't start a sentence with 'Especially'. That's not true but it's rare to find a situation where it works well at the beginning of a sentence.
A possible alternative: "You can hear the advantages of this groundbreaking approach throughout the signal chain but especially in the behaviour of our zero-delay-feedback filters when they are pushed to the limit."
But....
<nitpick>PSpice isn't an emulator, it's a simulator</nitpick> (And it celebrated its 40th birthday earlier this year)

After using the Moog modules i am currently checking out the Jupiter modules for that typical Snth Brass and Synth Strings sounds. The first results are amazing.
I was just doing the same types of sound for my upcoming Synthmaster 2.5 bank so maybe i got a new reference now...
The Jupiter modules sound better than the Arturia Jupiter 8V for sure which i sold a few months ago.

Diva is stunning. Here's some audio from my first tweak session with it -

A couple of questions
To make a default patch for the .. "sallen key" synth, should i use the ADS for amp envelope and adsr analogue for modulation? (to simulate the layout the best. I looked at some pictures of it and there was just env1 and env2, not saying which one did what)
Urs, could you please consider making a switch for revision so there is one click instead of two to change? One less click makes a big difference for hurting hands
Tinnitus and handpain .. can life get worse for a musician?
I'd actually be so bold to ask the same for the modules...
A button for each of the modules for swift changing but that might be stretching it a bit
What is the Randomise buttons under Trimmers for?(and the slope knobs? technical description please!
)
I think you picked an excellent group of modules for this synth.
It sounds fantastic!!! Especially the dual vco 1 (juno6?). I made such a great sounding bassline a la early goa. The sound was so fat and when i looked, it was just a saw with standard settings and filter with a little env mod
How awesome is that!

OK I hereby surrender to hakey and others (I'm not budging an inch on the "behaviour" issue, though).
So: I removed "especially", then streamlined the rest of the sentence a bit.

Acceptable now?

I missed the additional HPF filter for a proper Jupiter 8 emulation but then realized it could be selected from the second drop-down menu ("Feedback" as standard module).Ingonator wrote:After using the Moog modules i am currently checking out the Jupiter modules for that typical Snth Brass and Synth Strings sounds. Are those additional HPFs based on a Jupiter? At least the "Pre Lowpass" mode looks like it as it uses the same type of sliders as the other Jupiter modules.

Cool. A nice demo how soft and sweet Diva can sound while at the same time having such a massive pressure from below. Just lurveley.ryandfl wrote:Diva is stunning. Here's some audio from my first tweak session with it -

this is what Urs wrote elsewhere to answer the question of which modules "belong" together:
"It's not that easy...
The Minimoog should be obvious.
Juno 60 is DCO (only PWM and Saw) -> HP Post (no boost) -> LP OTA Ladder (rough) -> Analogue envs
Jupiter 8 is DualVCO -> HP Pre -> LP OTA Ladder (clean) -> Analogue envs
Jupiter 6 is DualVCO -> HP Pre -> LP OTA state variable -> Digital envs (Curve on)
Alpha Juno is DCO -> HP Post (no zero) -> LP OTA state variable -> Digital envs (Curve off)
MS-20 is obvious again, but doesn't have its own envelopes"
Cheers!

It definitely deserves the hype, it is THAT good! I have Juno-60 myself and that DCO / OTA ladder filter combination is scaringly close!!!
circuit modeling and 0-dfb filters are cool

Wonderful! Wonderful!
If I would start making my own sounds for it - can I do this without fearing the format of presets might be broken in the fortcoming updates?
