It's exactly modelled that way. With all the opinions about "analogue" sound and the common belief in analogue "grit" and "imperfection", we've been surprised just how well behaved those Dinosaurs are. In fact, the secret was all about making the drive *smooth*, yet distinct. This is what creates that creamy sound.
