Yes you're right, but I think there's more to it than that. The random detune seems to be decided per voice, as in Voice 1, 2, 3, etc. all have their own fixed detune. Actually, it seems that each voice has a constant drift ontop of the fixed detune. Props to U-he for this.Howard wrote:Depends on the trimmer settings i.e. you don't get if you don't want.Architeuthis wrote:Can someone explain to me why on each consecutive note you get a random amount of perfectly fixed detune? Try reducing the "Drift" value?Architeuthis wrote:Actually, it seems that each voice has a constant drift ontop of the fixed detune.

Lol, please understand that I am very much in agreement with pitch drift. I don't need to know how to turn it off.
Edit: The problem was that I didn't understand the random FIXED detune... which I discovered is not random and is simply different voices aka different oscillators playing.

Yes, the random fixed detune are probably doing what voice tuning trimpots in an Oberheim OB-X do...

Yes, all trimpots do that. We've done best of both worlds though: Complete access to oscillator tunings as well as a set of single knobs to turn it to taste.
That is, anyone who wants to tweak can do that, and even re-randomise the filter/env/whathaveyou slop till it fits.
Other ones can however simply adjust the level of slop by turning a knob that scales the overall amount. E.g. people who use microtuning will appreciate exact tuning.
So it's as easy or as complicated as one likes

Long time coming. Finally it is realised that these are days when we can 'suffer CPU' for quality. I usually end up bouncing a lot of audio from my Blofeld and Juno anyway so why not do the same for a crisp 'Divine'-sounding digital softsynth. Bring this on. It is sounding quite unique guys. Nothing sounds like this currently. Great effort. It's fun pushing her. real nice character that I can't wait to try in some mixes upon purchase. Please keep working the kinks out of this one. I know you will! congrats

Yeah, if only Zebra would output MIDI when arp is active, you could use it to drive Diva - initialize the patch with something simple so it doesn't take a lot CPU, turn on the arp, and off you go!alexfalcao wrote:+1Echoes in the Attic wrote:I can't help but imagine DIVA with Zebra's arpeggiator. Yes , an Arp woukld be nice. Currently i use the one which is built in at Ableton Live 8 so it's no big problem. As an external step sequencer i usually use WOK Clockwork.EvilDragon wrote:Yeah, if only Zebra would output MIDI when arp is active, you could use it to drive Diva - initialize the patch with something simple so it doesn't take a lot CPU, turn on the arp, and off you go!alexfalcao wrote:+1Echoes in the Attic wrote:I can't help but imagine DIVA with Zebra's arpeggiator. BTW i am just recreating a bunch of Jupiter 8 sounds. Diva is really perfect for those.
I'll publish the first presets here today or tomorrow maybe.
The funny thing is that last week i started creating Jupiter 8 sounds for my upcoming Synthmaster 2.5 bank (based on e.g. patch sheets, samples and audio demos) and now Diva arrives with an almost perfect emulation. I will still create those Synthmaster presets but i will use Diva as a reference now. I guess i will purchase it tomorrow.

URS!

How are you going with matching Diva with high resonance sounds from the Jupiter?Ingonator wrote:

Comparing Diva with the sounds at http://www.gearslutz.com/board/electron ... jp8v2.html I have had a lot of trouble getting the resonance that CoolColJ gets out of his Jupiter.
If I change the filter type from clean to rough, I get a better result but that filter seems to change things in other ways. Any hints?

Could anyone please start a Diva FAQ thread?
With a thread that's growing by 5 pages everytime i check it, it's kind of hard to keep track on what's been asked and what's been answered!
Things that should be included:
What are the modules based on, how to most authentically pick presets for a certain synth? (ie, i think only saw/square from DCO is juno6?)
The randomizer buttons, what do they do?
The 8 pan knobs (how does it work?)
What does the feedback do? (from highpass section)
Just a few questions of which i've seen some answered and some not
Btw, Jupiter 8 with rough filter is my absolute favourite

I just finished a bunch of Synth Brass sounds where this is not a big problem. Maybe i could check your example later.Mogular wrote:How are you going with matching Diva with high resonance sounds from the Jupiter?Ingonator wrote:

About the filters: AFAIK the "Clean" mode is the Jupiter 8 and the "Rough" mode from the Juno 60. The multimode filter seems to be from the Jupiter 6.
Lots of things like envelope amount, Cutoff, envelope settings and keytrack amount (both for filter and envelopes) are responsible for the Resonance response so this is quite complex.
Another problem could be that Diva got no 12dB filter like the real thing. It looks it got only the 24dB filter.
Another difference is that Diva got no Unison so far.
UPDATE:
I just made a short test with full resonance. It seems to much less if you add the Feedback module. If you turn that module off you get much more resonance.
The filter keyfollow amount has a big influence of the Resonance behavior too.
I will recheck my presets as i have used the Feedback module in some of them.
Those demos in your link sound like there was some FX like a Reverb or Delay added to the JP-8 example.
