I don't mean to keep fueling whatever the Nord comparison discussion was, but I can't help myself, and I think this is technically interesting. Not saying anything other than how to get closer to the Nord wave, and actually this is very easy to do with Diva's oscilloscope (much bigger than ACE's). I did compare the rendered waveforms as well.
It's possible to get closer to the saw wave from the Nord, than was used for the comparison with the Nord. One way is with the 'Dual VCO', synching OSC1 (Saw) to OSC2 (Saw & Pulse) with OSC2 very slightly detuned against OSC1, and very high PWM (I have 99.6 ...). The other is with the 'ECO' mode, just a saw.
The HPF modes can have a significant effect on wave shapes even when very subtly applied ... I believe 0 feedback, 0 in the 4-way switched, and 0 on the vertical slider one are transparent? A very little bit of resonance on the L2 mode of the SVF can ripple the saw's peaks too, which is seen in the Nord sample.
I'm assuming the triple-oscillator was used for that comparison? In any case, I think Diva may seem to change personalities (just like a real Diva!)

I just added 15 Diva presets here, mostly based on the jupiter 8 modules:

Im really getting into DIVA. Its beauty is definately in it's subtlety and nuances (I think that's what I mean). Running 6 instance in Cubase 6 x64 without a hitch; 6 instances simultaneously between 40-60% asio.
Found three minor glitches in the 5 minutes playing around.
(i)Selecting different patches in the browser (download a load from the forums thank you to those who contributed) the text in the GUI shrank for a split second and then returned to normal. Also have had issues selecteing patches using mouse from the forth column, when using arrows to navigate works (other columns fine).(ii) This resulted in a sound loss to the plugin. Had close the plugin on the slot and reopen to restore sound.
(iii) Opened 6 instances in Cubase, went to open a 7th and no matter what I tried it would not open. Closed Cubae down, booted back up and loaded saved track allowed a 7th instances to be loaded.
'A danger from Space' Brontos patch, played back straight and solo is maxing my rig out to 90% + on the ASIO.
Great sound. Got a nice analogue bass tbh, quite a bit or air in some patches and some lovely smooth analogish vibes. Not wholly there when run side by side with a DSI Pro08. Diva is falling a little short of the depth and richness of true analogue, but saying that, DIVA is good and I am yet to own a moog to compare with
Peace
Here's my brief demo for DIVA Beta. Bit of fun, old school electronic.
Don't expect a master piece, knocked up in an hour and it's mine
No effects/plugins just RAW Diva with the glue on the master.

Prophet '08 isn't really a good analog to compare Diva with. God damn that filter was so underwhelming.

Apologies in advance, I'm sure this has been asked before!?
Will future updates from Zebra contain the same Oscillators/Filters from Diva? Will Zebra (as the 'biggest' product from U-HE) make Diva absolete?
I have sold Zebra a while ago and am wondering if I should get Zebra again if it can do the same as Diva?

They won't be idental. The delayless feedback algorithm used in Diva can't be applied to Zebra, as far as I understand it. However, Urs has said he will be adding/updating Zebra with the lessons learned from creating Diva. It's probably best to wait and see what the next update is before considering purchasing it again.dalor wrote:Apologies in advance, I'm sure this has been asked before!?

curious as to the answer to this,
So my Dual Core PC is not powerfull enough, I'm reading about i7, i5(whatever that is, some core doo-dah stuff),
So can a Dual Core PC be upgraded to work with Diva and if so, is it an expensive upgrade?
Curious!

Yes, to get to i5 and i7 you need a new motherboard, a new CPU, and most likely DDR3 RAM, for best possible performance. It is not cheap.

Quick Diva test. Three instances, no FX, only a very minor EQ tweak of FLS's internal three band EQ.

Maybe its just your choice of sounds, but I can see what Shy meant now, there is a distinct weakness in the higher frequencies.abstractcats wrote:Quick Diva test. Three instances, no FX, only a very minor EQ tweak of FLS's internal three band EQ.

Anyway, it's clearly fantastic for bassier sounds.
But beyond that I could just sit there and tweak and enjoy the sound of Diva, feeling it move around and morph between sounds. It have that "living" feel to it, much more pronounced than even ACE. It's making it really hard to use some of my old softsynths that completely lack that character.
My current endevour is to have those warm living "analoguey" sounds combined with sequenced bright techy "modern" sounds. I think that's the ultimate combination.

Most likely just my sounds(not to mention my skill level at synth programming, I've gotta read and practice more), I only spent about 10 mins with it. Thanks for checking out my test, just the same.xybre wrote:
