Ensoniq SQ-80 filter, envelopes, oscillator waveforms!
Yeah, we have SQ8L, but the wait for SQ8X and extended features has really been long in the tooth...
d16 already did a near perfect 303 emulation.hakey wrote:So, what are the truly distinctive oscillators and filters (and oscillator+filter+VCA combos)?
I guess the Polyvoks(sp?) is one, though I don't know enough about it to comment. And nothing sounds quite like a 303. One might argue that divide down oscillators have an identifiable sound. Any more? Vactrol filters?
Okay, hmm, how does that relate to my post?electro wrote:d16 already did a near perfect 303 emulation.hakey wrote:So, what are the truly distinctive oscillators and filters (and oscillator+filter+VCA combos)?

Hmmm... MKS-80 is pretty much Jupiter 6 oscillators with alpha Juno filters, no? (or was it Jupiter 8 Oscs with Jupiter 6 filters?)Nokenoku wrote:Haven't read the whole thread, so I don't know, if it was already mentioned, but what we totally need is the sound of those:

This, I believe.Urs wrote:(or was it Jupiter 8 Oscs with Jupiter 6 filters?)
I have no clue .. never owned any of those, nor did some further comparison listening.Urs wrote:Hmmm... MKS-80 is pretty much Jupiter 6 oscillators with alpha Juno filters, no?
Some kind of MKS-70/JX-8p/JX-10 emulation would be awesome.Urs wrote:Hmmm... MKS-80 is pretty much Jupiter 6 oscillators with alpha Juno filters, no? MKS70 is interesting, haven't been able to bid high enough on eBay yet.
well with the PG8X synth you have most of the MKS70 and the MKS80 is very close to the JP6...I had an MKS80 and didnt find that much special to it compared to the American polys.Nokenoku wrote:Haven't read the whole thread, so I don't know, if it was already mentioned, but what we totally need is the sound of those:

I just sold my MKS80 Rev.4,- CEM3340 OSCs w/ Roland Jupiter 8 VCF (Roland custom chips)and CEM3360 VCAs in the cross modulation section.Urs wrote: Hmmm... MKS-80 is pretty much Jupiter 6 oscillators with alpha Juno filters, no? (or was it Jupiter 8 Oscs with Jupiter 6 filters?)
I have a MKS70 in working condition w/ VR 101 Super JX Sound ROM "Acoustic 1" and 2 M64C RAM cards, display good.Urs wrote: MKS70 is interesting, haven't been able to bid high enough on eBay yet.
Guy traveled 400km from Duesseldorf to pick it up and to get it for EUR 1.300.- without programmer, but original library cards and orig. manual included.EvilDragon wrote:How much did you get for that rev 4?
