They got different phase responses. Feedback is basically a distorted version of inverse resonance, and with 12dB they come from different filter poles. Even at 12dB setting, the resonance still comes from the 24dB/oct output.hakey wrote:With the Moog type filter increasing feedback at 24dB attenuates resonance, whereas at 12dB it's the opposite - why?
(no complaints! love the 12dB with res)

Whilst age can change things, you're seriously over-thinking it. Maybe something bleeding through into something else can have a "nice" quality, though it's generally not-so-nice things like hiss or unwanted noises that results from component degradation. But there's many famous recordings of vintage synths made when the synths were almost brand new or even prototypes. The important qualities were already there then IMO. Differences people notice generally relate to much more basic and obvious areas than age.Breeze wrote:set of appropriate controls would be implemented to vary parameters such as "Years in Service", "Capacitor Degeneration", "Resistor Degeneration", "Transistor/Diode mismatch", etc, that would allow customization within every subsection of every synth model. There would also have to be switches for the known modifications and optimizations done for these as well.
Very true. People are mostly listening for the same few things to "tell the emulation" though. Typically things like a "reduced presence" in the low mid frequencies or a "harsh" quality to the high frequencies, as well as listening out for "more basic behaviours" in how the emulation handles certain things. In that last regard Diva's filter models are a significant step forward. Btw, inside the Jupiter 8 you'll find a huge amount of trimmers (Hundred(s) - I think very early ones might have had more). So if you think your talk was crazy; it's maybe not as crazy as the hardware synths actually are sometimeseveryone's ears, sound systems, and listening environments are different; in audio comparisons, these are far from irrelevant parameters.

Try running Reaper as admin. If that works then you know it's a permission problem. Windows 7 protects the Program Files directories now. I recommend following the instructions in this thread to not require running Reaper as admin:leggie wrote:I can't even get this load in REAPER 32 or 64 bit version.

Hello _
I just bought and received DIVA registration codes but since the demo version, I can't open the little window to enter the authorization code.
I have the latest demo version of the November 16 (rev 360), can you help me, please ?

They will work in the official release, not in the current beta.geronimo wrote:Hello _

EvilDragon & others,
I am familiar with gearslutz, I just never heard it called GS before. Thank you for responding! A Juno 60 has an arpeggiator, the Juno 106 does not. Here is a link saying there are slight sound differences between the Juno 106 & Juno 60:

I take this backFunkasizer wrote: To my ears the ensemble effect has too much presence and feels as if the audio is being sucked into a vacuum hose. Therefore I prefer the ensemble emulation in the Korg Legacy bundle, and also the Dimension D emulation by EMS. The combination of the latter with the Diva synth engine brings me in pure heaven (typically, I use the Dim D in stereo mode, setting 1, 40-50% dry/wet).

124 pages in ten days...think Diva's creating a buzz?
I know I've "mentioned" Diva in more than a few virgin forums this week
I thought I should mention, for those seeking help with programming Diva I started a "Diva Programming Questions" thread. I'm not likely able to offer much help myself, but we do have quite a few world-class programmers lurking and ... not lurking...?

On a side note - I got rudimentary multicore support going. It's only on Mac at the moment (good enough for debugging threading issues) and doesn't scale as well as I had hoped. I can balance the load rather well among 8 cores, but there's some serious overhead involved.
We will need to give up any chance for a proper ModMatrix (as in Zebra) to make full multicore support enjoyable (increase minimum block size per voice, which spoils the resolution of the Matrix). This means it will be applicable for ACE then too, but it won't ever work in Zebra unless we jump through hoops to reimplement the ModMatrix.
We'll see... 2 cores may scale just fine for 4+ voices...
