Not really. My BX3 has triggers halfway through the key travel, and it gives a quick, snappy response that is especially good with repeated notes. I've never had problems with unwanted notes. I haven't used it on any external gear, but it would probably work nice with softsynths like DIVArockin1 wrote:Wouldn't this make "accidental notes" more likely? Sometimes keys are pressed a bit before one actually plays a note (or by mistake if you have sloppy technique)...

I agree with your theory. I've noticed the same thing with certain keyboards and I don't personally like it. Kind of like a guitar chord sounding when my hand is on the way down but hasn't hit the strings. Our brains get trained to line up the beats with a certain part of the physical motion and it works fine. But it's all what your used to I guess. I was always fine with 512 samples personally, it felt normal to me. Lately been digging 256 though.Urs wrote:Of course... Every 128 samples correspond to about 1 meter of distance to speakers/cabinets at 44/48kHz
The best thing one can do is use a Minimoog as trigger. The keys "fire" half way down. Which I think is "all there is" to that "instantaneous" feel of a Minimoog. The notes simply come out a little earlier than expected, I would reckon a few milliseconds.
If someone built a USB/MIDI keyboard with a similar technique, many people would think that software sounds more snappy than hardware.
(just my wild theory though... not backed up at all, but fun to believe)

Diva is the ultimate Frankensynth. And form should follow function. I like knowing what components I'm using. I think she's a looker because she's got hybrid vigor![]()
I say bring on the satin and leopard spots!

I'm am thrilled to discover that Diva is exactly what I've been looking for for my arrangement of Venus (as part of my Planets project).

hmmmmmmmm I guess once it is an option. I usually use 128 but actually prefer 64 bluffer size.. anything over 128 though and I have to quantize. I like to not quantize my keyboard parts....

I'm finding also that 128 is my ideal buffer size. Anything over that and everything begins to feel sloppy and I question my (already dubious at best) keyboard skills.zvenx wrote:hmmmmmmmm I guess once it is an option. I also really don't like working at more than 128. I'd be quite upset if Diva forced me to use 256 or more.

Same here. I prefer not to go above 128 samples. It's most notable on fast lines with a percussive attack.

I seem to recall Kontakt and I believe one other NI instrument had this same problem... took them years to add multicore support for this exact reason. have no idea what they did, but they did solve it, so you can get low buffer size and multicore....but I am pretty sure it is more than two of them programming

I never had much problems recording even at 512 samples while I had onboard Realtek soundcard... And I can play fast... It's a matter of habit and how good you are aligning to what you already recorded...

The next beta has them automatable. I'll add more MidiLearn options in the process of the Midi overhaul. There's quite a bit of stuff in the pipeline.Crackbaby wrote:How can i control for instance the osc buttons for vco (jupiter) and other switches via midi? no rightclick menu on them

A sound in Diva (beta) and CPU (3.5 Ghz) capitulated. If this be so in the final or only in the beta version?.
But the sound of Diva is absolutely incredible.
