From SOS's Minimonsta review:

the Minimoog's contours generators exhibit a quirk that contributes greatly to the character of the instrument: the envelopes are reinitialised from the points to which they have dropped during the previous Release. Consequently, successive contours 'climb' (as shown in the right-hand diagram over the page), so you can use keyboard technique to make the sound bright or softer, or louder or quieter, as you wish; a critical element in the character of the instrument.

I can't replicate this behaviour using Diva's ADS envelopes, am I doing something wrong?

This is only true for the Mod envelope, where we have modelled this behaviour accordingly :)

Edit: Urs was faster :hihi:

And actually, this is slightly wrong anyway... the Attack peak goes up higher, that's true, but Sustain stays the same level...

I must be doing something wrong then, or perhaps it's very subtle?

Post

Modelled really well too. Quite a wonderful experience the first time I realised this was happening.

You're right... it got lost...

We'll have it back in the next beta!

8)

Ok, we've just verified it:

- it's only on the Mod envelope
- it only affect the Attack peak
- it falls back onto the normal sustain
- it only occurrs on short Attack times

That's how it'll be in Diva!

Echoes in the Attic wrote:Hey Urs, any chance of the ring mod getting into the Eco Osc from the MS-20 Osc?
Isn't it there?

(it still lacks a switch to use Osc1 square wave or whatever other wave is chosen in Osc1 - the original MS-20 hardware always uses Osc1 square, while the Korg software versions use whatever waveform is selected)
Really? Ugh. I've been away from music computer for a while and I don't remember it in there. But I usually used the other oscs so I guess I missed it. And I couldn't find a screenshot anywhere of the EcoOsc. By the way why is it "Eco"?

Yes, it is. But it has a minuscle effect on performance, compared to the filter.

Will separate Tune mod for Eco's oscillators be implemented at some point in the future?

Maybe.

Today is Clemens' last day in the office before his well deserved x-mas vacation, so we're just hunting down some final issues.

We won't have time for feature additions in the remaining 5 hours... and I'm not sure if I understand his code well enough to add anything.

And of course, we still want to release before x-mas... if at all possible... :-o

Post

Of course, I didn't mean for the initial release - just at some unspecified point in the future (and it would be useful for replicating MS20 dynamic ring mod).

Yeah, it's a mishap on our side
