Fair enough. But on my system (MB Pro 17" Early 2011, 10.6.8, Live 8, Diva AU), Diva crackles right from the start. I'm not talking of CPU overload or anything like that but occasional, vinyl like crackle. And it's only Dec 23! :-(

Yeah... heard that... might have time to look into it tomorrow... confused too...
I guess one foolproof remedy is to just buy it! ;-)

Spitfire, I have gotten crackles from the beginning. I traced it to two things. As suggested here, setting the quality parameter to Draft helped immensely, but I also had to amp up my processor speed. Win 7 lets processors run at less than full speed to save energy. The idea is that when the system needs the extra speed, the processor can speed up to accomodate. The problem is with Diva and other music stuff, the processor can't change speed fast enough to compensate and the result is crackles in the audio stream. For me, when I am working with Diva or other PM-based plugin, I have put my computer in High Performance mode (under power management). This keeps my processor speed high, and it mostly solves the problem.

Word of warning though. My machine has an Intel i7, and when it is running at the higher clock rate, it gets hot. I have had my machine overheat and shut down several times because of it. It is a balancing act to be sure.

JJBiener, thanks for the heads-up!

As I wrote, I'm on an MBPro and Macs don't have this manual speed override. Also, as I mentioned, this doesn't sound anything like an overworked CPU at all, but as sampled vinyl crackle and white (or pink?) noise.

This noise-cum-crackle happens regularly, regardless of my playing notes or not.

Also, my i7 CPU doesn't even hiccup when I play fat chords in Divine quality. So, it's definitely not processor related.

And I do have the correct time on my System clock…

Best,

Joachim

Just downloaded and this synth sounds very warm! Seems to have more depth when I compare it to NI's stuff. Great job!

Question though: Can this thing replicate Moog Taurus bass pedals? If not, any chance it will be replicated in the future? I love the sound of these things, but have yet to find a convincing synth to replicate the body and power of bass pedals. Hearing the low end on some of the presets I'm hopeful it can be done with DIVA, but I'm no programming expert.

Also, the ability to search presets by category, type of sound, attributes, etc and tag our own favorites would be appreciated; similar to what you can do with the browser on NI's synths. Any thoughts on if this is possible in a future update?

Thanks!

p.s. are you guys going to be at NAMM? If so, I'd like to stop by and say hi.

It's already possible to tag favorites by right clicking on the presets.

playing fast chords is a small problem when the envelope attacks and release are short. If you got pads with long attack and/or release there could be a BIG problem!!

I'm sure you're right, even though my machine doesn't seem to struggle with pad chords either. I only mentioned that to stress the fact that the recurring noise/crackle I'm hearing (even when not playing a single note) is not a symptom of CPU stress. It seems to be the 'buy it now' hint that Urs has mentioned which has triggered prematurely.

I'll be in the studio in an hour or so. I'll check it out. I guess I accidentally uploaded a test build with a few days less

there are quite some rich sounds in the preset library I really enjoyed...sadly my computer is just not capable. Which kind of annoys me because I thought my computer would be able to alteast handle one instance, but it struggles with literally one instance of that (and nothing else) on divine with max voices.

Oh well, seems like it would be a great product though, good work! :tu:

Just wanted to say my piece and ask a question, I downloaded Diva without the 1200 presets and it worked fine ( without noise and crackle ) but since downloading the latest build yesterday ( Thursday ) with all the wonderful presets I now get the noise / crackle every 25 sec's.

Can somebody please inform me that if I purchase Diva and input the serial number will this take away the noise and crackle ?

Great work to everyone who produced the presets they really are fantastic sounding audio triumphs, and BIG UP to Howard and the Team, the future fever is Diva !!
It's not what you do, it's how you do it . . . .

I can confirm it.
Although Urs mentioned putting a new demo up soon, that will have no crackles until Dec31
I'm a registered user with no crackles

Sounds awesome.

So awesome my machine gave up in anything but draft.

I guess i'd need to treat it like a hardware synth and bounce it down....wait, is that part of the emulation coding? :hihi:

FWIW, I am also getting the "demo crackle," and DIVA (even in draft mode) pretty much overwhelms my 1st gen Unibody MacBook Pro. But hey, I am also waiting for the Ivy Bridge upgrade hopefully early next year. DIVA does sound amazing, though!

isn't it time to clean the processor cooler ?
