I may be uploading another entry tonight, a Norwegian folk song this time...

I'm guessing your Quadcore i7 may have had something to do with it... I'm still running a Pentium 4!photonic wrote: Unlike others here in the forum I had luckily no problems with the CPU. I run 22 instances of Kairatune together with all FX at about 70% CPU-load. No rendering necessary.

Although this synth is able to make some extraordinary sounds its CPU use is even more remarkable.
On my own PC I was able to use 5 Kairas and CPU went up to 110% ! (I was not playing anything yet, just watching the performance meter was enough).
Bouncing was not an option because I had nothing to bounce yet.
I finally managed to get the stuff running on an other PC, but 9 Kairas was the limit.
Doc Jon already mentioned his dislikes (monophonic/CPU), which I +1 (normally I start a track build on some chords, but using 4 Kairas to play/construct a chord took all the fun out of that approach), but.. YES I still think it sounds GREAT!
InterSlotCall summed up my experience quit nicely, so my title is a response to his (title).
Uploaded mine, it's called :
"So Do I".
I used : 9 x Kairatune.
Track FX :
1 x JB Omniverb (send)
4 x ReaEq
4 x ReaComp.
Automation : No.
Master Fx :
1 x FreeG stereo
1 x TLs Maximizer.
Enjoy.
P.S. I definitely going to use this synth again, but only ONE per project
.
(until I get a better PC).

OK, I finally managed to make an entry for an OSC after a few previous months where I gave up because I couldn't understand how to program the synths. I found Kairatune a more accessable synth to work with, although my sound design skills are still useless, so it is mainly tweaked presets. 20 instances of Kairatune, 5 bounced to save CPU. I ended up using very little else in terms of effects, but there is one ReaEQ, one ReaDelay and Kjaerhus master limiter on the main bus. Host is REAPER.
It is called The Adventures of Captain Trillian.

Gorgorgathgorgorgor - Maselvhallingen
Norwegian folk song
eight instances in Reaper (five rendered)
FX
On the Master...
BaxterEQ (Variety Of Sound)
FerricTDS (VOS)
EQUINOX_1.0.6 (platinumears)
LoudMax (Thomas Mundt)
On the tracks...
UD Reverb (Massimo Bosco)
PanCake (CableGuys)
Modern Spacer (Antress)
I admit I have been short on time this month, and with the
difficulties running more than a few instances of Kairatune
at a time on my old P4 machine, I kinda wimped out and used a
bunch of presets. I did not actually intend to submit this
one, as I like Krummavisur just fine, but then it started
coming together with a little time to spare, so why not?
Enjoy!

Mmmhh, seems to me i'm living in the cloud
Havent any trouble with Kairatune. My Quadcore (AMD Phenom II 940) + 4 GB RAM + Rotation 2 (14 x Kairatune + FX) + FL says: 52 % overall CPU-Usage.

thanks for the kind welcome kraftraum and IrionDaRonin. I've been following OSC for several months now, and always really enjoy listening to the entries. After recording virtually nothing in the last two years, I set myself a new years resolution to actually finish a few songs this year, and have managed three so far already. Simply having a deadline forces you to see something through to a conclusion.IrionDaRonin wrote: Welcome Mark, nice to see you here in OSC too.

Hi, I have shared a preview of my entry, Pointillistic,
made on Cubase Studio 4, with about 30 Kairatune instances.
Further details will follow, after uploading the final version.
Cheers!

Cheers guys, a reasonable amount of entries so far even with the post-coital tristesse following Diva and the holidays etc.
And your cover really works Gorgor, sounds actually better than the violins of the original in my opinion even with the crazy glide.
