it has always been because it was originally used in a tracker. each voice would be mapped to a monophonic "channel" of the tracker. to see that in action, download the adxs.zip and load the adxs files by pressing "load bank". it will accept adxb and adxs. the adxs contain a bank section and wav data for presets used in the song/module and it will over-write any wav files you have loaded, and the first N number of presets.
you can see the LEDs do a "dance" as the song plays. i need to tweak the gui code to flash them during song play, but the on/off voice state is still shown. the age of a voice is managed by the note-logic, which is bypassed when a song is being played by the sequencer and the sequencer doesn't care about voice age. i might build the tracker into xhip so you can use it as a vst tracker plugin
that was it's original intention so it would be really cool to do that. i hear a lot of wishing that there was a tracker in vst format to do glitch effects and so on.

Just had one crash with it in REAPER 4.151. Clicked on "Bipolar" (Modulator A I think) and it crashed. Can't reproduce tho.aciddose wrote:http://xhip.presetexchange.com/alpha/re ... 00_wip.exe

let it be known i've fixed quite a few small bugs without releasing anything, and like i said the next time i post something i should have it ready to be fully bug tested. please do mention them if possible, but if you do try and see if you can find any way to reproduce it first.
one such bug i found was when you turn the number of voices down while you're already playing voices, if a note is still active and you reduce the voices, and that note happens to have been on a voice which no longer exists the synth will attempt to read from that voice if you play the same note again before you play any other note and it'll crash
small things are important, they're just not important yet. if you could write them all down in your personal notes and test them when i get the "beta" or "ready to be released after bug testing" version that would be a great help!

i've got the menus all working now, i'm just emptying the bug list and testing the project files support. shouldn't be more than another couple days. i'm hoping to finish today.

It is very interesting to follow the development of Xhip over time.

sorry, i knew it was bad already, but to make it even worse i played it in from the querty keyboard directly to xhip with no quantization.

ok,

http://xhip.presetexchange.com/alpha/re ... ip_700.png
http://xhip.presetexchange.com/alpha/re ... 00_wip.exe
http://xhip.presetexchange.com/alpha/re ... 00_x64.zip
to install the x64 version, you must install the normal one for the other data first, then just extract the x64 dll into your plugin directory. afterward you can delete the 32-bit dll if you want.
chunks should be working, menus work, i've fixed quite a few issues.
i might put up a wiki page on the xhip site for the manual and produce pdf files sourced from there once it's done.
selecting pcm waves, the pcm, envelopes and waveshaper issues are the most important to fix. additional stuff like a text-edit would be really nice as well before the next release.

this is ready for testing now. any bug found not on that list needs to be added and fixed.>>> todo
can't select pcm waveforms
instruction manual
text edit for preset name
glide time <> glide rate
store wav data in presets or support referencing in some way
>>> minor bugs
presets need "dirty" flag - store random UID
drum mode doesn't reset presets allocated different on each voice
parameter filter time isn't adjustable
sample rate for pcm doesn't work right (?)
envelopes are not cut in reset mode
waveshaper doesn't work right
>>> changes
removed microtune function for now
chunks should work, everything should save in project files (not yet cc mapping)
>>> bug fixes
too many to list, i don't really remember everything
