Multicore support! nice Urs!
I have a mac pro 3.1 8 core 3ghz. I notice that the colours of the multithread light of diva changes when switching presets.
What do they mean ? blue red green.....hmmm
I checked logic 9 system performance meter but so far I only see the last meter showing activity. ( last core I suppose ? )
On os 10.6.8 .....
How can you check if all cores are adressed?

Some comments.
I have two older computers.
a macbook pro 2.16Ghz Duo 2 Core circa 2007
and a Intel QX6700 2.66 Quad Core circa 2006.... yes I will upgrade them at some point this year
,
but although I read Urs said multicore probably wont' help processors these old and may hurt, this hasn't been my experience....they do improve performance, maybe not as remarkably as newer processors, but I do see a difference, above and beyond the whole current beta 1.1 optimisation.. build 3, cause a problem to bring my cubase 6.5 on the mac to to the point of stopping the audio engine, and even if I removed Diva and used another plug in, it wouldn't recover... happened the first time but hasn't happened again.. didnt' happen with build 2....
I still can't believe how great Diva sounds....its the best sounding synth I have owned.....
rsp
edit: ok want to take back part of what I said above.... on some patches enabling multicore on the macbook pro does hurt........and others have asked but to me multicore, quality and especially rendering quality need to be global configured and always loaded in the state the user sets as their default.

I noticed that too, on my mbp coreduo2 2010 model.zvenx wrote: but although I read Urs said multicore probably wont' help processors these old and may hurt, this hasn't been my experience....they do improve performance, maybe not as remarkably as newer processors, but I do see a difference, above and beyond the whole current beta 1.1 optimisation.. build 3...
Even without multicore turned on, there was a big reduction in cpu usage.
The memory usage complaining comments will also likely be reduced now as well.
Completely agree. It has amazing tonal range throughout the low, mids, and highs, that never falter. Solid comes to mind.zvenx wrote: I still can't believe how great Diva sounds....its the best sounding synth I have owned.....
Now I gotta install this new beta and cross my fingers, that it does me better than the last one did.

Please consider this in your update!! It is really annoying having to set this everytime I load an instance of Diva...zvenx wrote:...to me multicore, quality and especially rendering quality need to be global configured and always loaded in the state the user sets as their default.

Does multicore only work on sandy bridge systems?
How about AMD CPUs and 775 quad cores?

Sandy Bridge gave us very good results, but also whatever the current lineup of Xeons in Mac Pros are called (some strain of Nehalem I think)samplemania wrote:Does multicore only work on sandy bridge systems?

We are planning to add some AMD machines to our lab, but we already hear good things from users. Seems that recent AMD multicores are absolutely suited for Diva's threading feature!

Diva is extraordinary sounding! Keeps surprising me... there continue to be moments where some sound comes out that startles me with its character and immediacy. Best sounding synth available!!

We can't do this right now, but we'll add a preference mechanism shortly. There's more updates in the pipeline relatively soon, but we want to get 1.1 out officially asap (there is a possible crash in 1.0.1, and fixing that outweighs pretty much anything else)andow wrote:Please consider this in your update!! Simplest workaround in the meantime is the preference is already saveable in any host project (as is quality mode) so just make a host track template, project or even host based preset (eg as Live and Kore can do). eg my Kore AU KSD template has it set to on and loads that way every time.Urs wrote:We can't do this right now, but we'll add a preference mechanism shortly.andow wrote:Please consider this in your update!! a single preset played with an arp covering a few octaves...mcnoone wrote:Completely agree. It has amazing tonal range throughout the low, mids, and highs, that never falter. Solid comes to mind.
