We have a another bug to attend to. It's all related to multithreading though.
This bug has been known as "crackles in Live" or "crackles in Studio One", but it's tightly related to the new event handling required for multicore support.
If we can't fix it today then there's no chance for an imminent release, but we'll of course post the beta in its most stable form.

..and Crackles in FL Studio 10 also (665) ... occasionally though and yes, seems like Diva is not holding tightly on the processing power allocated for her processing.
I thought that I was experiencing glitches from the osc sync but it turns out that that wasn't the problem.

Problem in MIDI Queue for Multicore:
- cause hanging/swallowed notes in Studio one, FL, others
Problem in Multicore itself:
- causes crackles, drop outs, spikes in audio
Both should be fixed shortly. (667 fixes hanging notes already afaik)

Great news for Ableton users like me then !
A quick question : I've disabled hyper-threading on my i7 950 because of bad Live 8 performances when it's activated. Does the new multi-core support works with hardware cores or with virtual cores too ? I didn't investigate further with the multi-core support yet because of the aforementioned crackles.

We do not specifically do anything about Hyperthreading, but we have observed that Diva only uses physical cores.nilhartman wrote:Great news for Ableton users like me then !

Ok ! Then Diva should make the most of my CPU even if HT is disabled, right ?

is this not what many other devs just call a "Stable Release"?Urs wrote:If we can't fix it today then there's no chance for an imminent release, but we'll of course post the beta in its most stable form.

Relieved that it wasn't just me going mad with the 'crackles in host XYZ' and that there's a fix imminent.

Most crackles should be gone. We still get some, but they're host/realtime related.

- fixed bug that could cause short drop outs (a ka clicks) in multithreaded mode
- fixed bug that could cause buffer overrun in KORE
- revised Note scheduling revised again and yet again
Note: We do still get crackles in Fruity Loops in Divine mode, but not when rendering and not in fast. So we think it's a performance problem. Those crackles do not appear in Studio One for us.

Hi Urs,
should this fix:
"- fixed bug that could cause short drop outs (a ka clicks) in multithreaded mode " apply to older computers?
on my 2007 macbook pro 2.16Duo 2core processor, multithread enable does help cpu usage, but it does have clicks etc........this hasn't changed with this new build, maybe it isn't suppose to...and those older computers are dead in the water as far as multithread is concerned...
just checking

zvenx,
The clicks we fixed were problems where the audio stream has spikes or drop outs.
It does not fix clicks where the audio engine has overloads and the host/driver has drop outs. (which means, we can't prevent buffer underruns on too high cpu load)
