Hey Guys!

i know Urs you'r filled with ideas and plans and all that but i just stumbled about that Neuron synth and saw there is a software version as well(no longer available) and just thought maybe this concept is of any interest and could partly find a way into your new digital synth?

:hihi: :hihi:

that would be so cool..

We're busy till 2016 with the stuff we have, and that's without the ideas on the way :-p

Sampling, sample playback ("Dumpling") and sample chaotification are somehow not quite our core interest.

Methinks that a Neuron-type synth would rather fit Ben Gillett's line of work at Camel Audio.

ok, yep..was worth a try :D

good luck with all the plans

i wonder why its discontinued..its sad actualy.

The VST version was nearly £500, very expensive compared to other plugins of the day, and far more limited than the original...

Did you read the Sound on Sound review of the original hardware? Despite the £3500 pricetag the synthesis method seems have been somewhat less impressive than advertised, and the implementation of a lot of things was particularly clunky....

hm..yea very expensive actualy..

maybe it could have been improved while further development, but the price is(was) crazy..

Actually the sound engine is identical, the only thing that is missing in the plugin version are the effects, but they meant for people to use it in a DAW so add their own. I built my own replication of the effects chain in Kore. In fact because the Neuron hardware is really just a computer running a version of Linux running the Neuron software, you can run more instances of the Neuron plugin and get far more voices from it than you can the hardware version so it's more powerful in that respect.

The downside is that the drivers for the hardware joystick (NUKE) that comes with it won't run on Win 7 or OS-X Lion so mine is currently no longer in use. Also the company went bankrupt before all the bugs were ironed out of the plugin - in many respects it's still a beta - it's stable enough but the automation recording is horrendous.

Soundwise it's very digital (of course), has some similarities sonically to granular/spectral synths like Symptohm Melohman and Alchemy but nothing so far has managed to replicate its morphing abilities (Alchemy comes closest) and its blending modes are also pretty unique (although I read that Corona has blending modes too - not sure how similar they are).

Also, the plugin version has this memory leaking issue which slowly fills up your RAM then just crashes the whole thing. Useless.

Yes, although I have a later beta that largely fixed that

What a great idea to follow here at kvr the hartmann neuron's concept !

yea..was hoping it could grow a similar kind here , because it would be even cool for surround and stuff
