Worthy a ban?

I remember back when you first started raving about it, I really didn't understand what the fuss was about it and it wasn't until iMaschine came out that I got it. Two words: compatibility and portability. I love MPC's but bringing an MPC project in for a mix is a hassle. Similarly, I love Cubase but bringing a Cubase project live isn't even imaginable. Maschine bridges both gaps, plus allows me to write parts on my phone while my wife is in the changing room.ew wrote:As far as Maschine goes, the success has exceeded everybody's expectations. I remember talking to Daniel Haver and Mate Galic at NAMM right after the press conference announcing Maschine; we were wondering whether people would like it as much as we did. We talked again at the anniversary party in January; the answer was an emphatic yes, they do. Why would you kill off something that profitable?

Sure, just like there's a new iPhone and iPad every year. After dropping my 4S in the ocean on my honeymoon, I'm back to using my ancient (by today's standards) 3G and it's actually still working out quite nicely for me.So what do you do to sell hardware? Make sure that you always have to buy new gadgets to replace/add to your previous gadgets.
How are they forcing you? Are they holding a gun to your head saying "Buy our hardware or die!"? Holding your family hostage? We want the detailstetsuneko wrote: This is what NI is forcing their customers to do nowadays.
lol You obviously didn't get it the first time around so here it is again. NI has already explained the technical reasons behind why at the moment only F1 controller can access all the function of the new Traktor remix decks and that once they revamp the Controller Editor's mapping features that other MIDI controllers will be able to access the same functions:tetsuneko wrote:http://www.djtechtools.com/2012/05/31/f ... mix-decks/
This is what NI is forcing their customers to do nowadays. They are becoming a hardware manufacturer more than a software one, most likely because you cannot torrent a piece of hardware. So what do you do to sell hardware? Make sure that you always have to buy new gadgets to replace/add to your previous gadgets. Profitable indeed.
The reason I am pointing this out is that I, as a consumer, do not appreciate this change in NI's strategies, and want to make sure that other consumers like me are aware of these things. I am most likely biased in my opinions, so use your own judgement to make your own conclusions.

There can be some of that. I tend to use it without the controller just as much as with it and do most of sound selecting and editing on the computer.deastman wrote:Perhaps I should start a new topic, but I'm still debating about buying Maschine, and would like to hear from some current owners. I'm still not totally sold after watching some of the demo videos. It seems very fiddly with lots of menus, modes, and function keys to learn your way around.
Yeah, I'm actually pretty happy with the padKontrol. I wish there was a software-only option for Maschine.Uncle E wrote:There can be some of that. You can use the Maschine software only without the controller. But that would be silly imo. For me, it's only useful for when you're on the go and just have your laptop with you.deastman wrote:I wish there was a software-only option for Maschine.
I want iMaschine to be able control Maschine.deastman wrote:Yeah, I'm actually pretty happy with the padKontrol. I wish there was a software-only option for Maschine.
Which often describes me. Even without the controller, I prefer using Maschine over most other DAW's.bunnywrench wrote:You can use the Maschine software only without the controller. But that would be silly imo. For me, it's only useful for when you're on the go and just have your laptop with you.
