Hi Howard,Howard wrote:I made a patch for ACE that was based on (my memory of) the Novachord, but I wouldn't mind having a serious go at an emulation or two. i just started an experiment to try recreating the Novachord in Mutools MUX.
My reference is Soniccouture Novachord with which i first tried to analyze the raw waveform (which seems to be a Sawtooth) and what happens when i use the controls in the Soniccouture Novachord GUI.
Here is what i found so far about the original controls:
- Resonators 1-3:
Those seem to be a combination of a saw waveform and a BP filter with Resonance.
The difference of Resonators 1-3 seems to be the Cutoff frequency of the BP filter. The knob in the original synth seems to control the Gain/level of each of the Resonators (= Saw/BPF combination).
- Deep Tone:
This seems to correspond to a LP filter and the control at the snth seems to control the Gain/level of the Resonators sent trough the LPF filter.
- Brilliant Tone:
First i thought this should be a HPf filter but it seems to be a LPF/HPF combination. The synth control/knob again seems to control the gain/level of the Resonators sent through the LPF/HPF combination.
- Full Tone:
Not totally sure but this seems to be a BPf/LPF combination (or a different HPF/LPF combination). Again the synth knob(control seems to control the gain/level of the Resonators sent trough the BPF/LPF combination.
In fact all the 3 filter controls at the original synth seem to be a mixer for the 3 different filters and do not control the Cutoff frequency.
I am trying to set the correct Cutoff frequencies of all filters involved using a Signal Analzyer and my own ears.
So far i have not implemented the "Bright/Mellow" control and the vibrato.
A Chorus FX is added too already.
I'll post the MUX preset as soon as i think i am at least close to the target including the vibrato etc. As controls at the MUX interface i try to use the same as in the real synth.
PS:
Those who don't know MUX could check here:

You could also use another VST plugin as a module which i have already tried with TAL U-NO-LX.
