I just googled Hans Zimmer CS-80, and something popped up about Zimmer using the CS-80 a lot. I wonder if........

This would pretty much KILL off other emulations on the market
My V-Collection would go right up on the marketplace. I would love to get the CS-80 sound without Arturia's wretched f$*&ing interface.

+1 on both CS80, SEM and Odyssey!

Guys!

Hehehe, yes, a CS-80 is around, and so are OB-X, possibly a Synthex, possibly a P5 V2, even parts of an Arp 2500. We have Synthacon filters, TB-303 filters, Synthi stuff, Polyvoks.

Nonetheless, this stuff ain't easy. We need time and we currently have our brains full of effects and zebras.

The CS is particularly weird to model because it's character is defined by the hardware control (Ribbon, PolyAT) to a large extent. No software will ever come close without corresponding hardware, at least on the performance side...

That's okay, keep your mind on the Zebra... Zebra... Zebra....

OMG U-He's getting into hardware now! I'm going to go start 17 threads about it...

Urs,
Sounds great! I know this stuff takes time, though I'm still anxious to hear how it turns out!

I would be happy if we just got the Jupiter-4 oscillators and filters into Diva.

It isn't on the list of synths Urs mentioned above as having access to. For that matter, if the only Oberheim he has access to is an OB-X, I'd rather see the Prophet 5 V2 get added first.

Well, the OB-X has the original SEM filters based on CA3080 OTAs. Later models (OB-Xa, OB-8) use Curtis chips, which we have covered with a Matrix 12.

Wow! Seems there is a lot of interest in this. That's fantastic. I'm in favour of OB-X firstly can I just say.

The Prophet is cool but you can buy Dave Smith stuff today. Its in production. In fact I have a Prophet 08. Love it to bits. I'm sorry I can't compare it to the Prophet 5 v2, since I've never owned this synth, but the 08 is brilliant.

The CS-80 is rather nice yes but my vote is still for the Oberheim. The SEM I've not owned but lots of people have lots of nice things to say about it. I thought it was monophonic though?

I have, on the other hand, heard the OB-X and its one of the nicest synthesisers I've heard. Between the Diva, my Prophet 08 and the Tempest the only thing I'd like to add is an Oberheim and I'd love it if Urs and the U-he team would be so kind as to model one since the originals are 5k USD + and rather large/heavy. I love the Diva. Its become my go-to instrument because its so accessible and sounds as good as any of my analogues to my ears. Just would love to add 1x oberheim to it for all those ghostly strings and pads :D.

So how many goldfish will I have to sacrifice to get U-he to bless the OB-X with their very special software treatment? (keep in mind I live in newcastle upon tyne and over here we haven't anything to look forward to other than this kind of stuff :p ).

Cheers!

You know, the world's most coveted guitar compressor pedals (Ross, Keeley, etc.) are also based on CA3080 OTA's. Maybe it's time to take your knowledge beyond synths? 8)
