No, all of my VSTs are installed in c:\music\VST\[type]\[company]

In the case of ZebraCM it's: C:\Music\VST\CM\Synths\u-he\Zebra CM

Hmmm, there's a space in "Zebra CM" - it can't be...

Well, CRAP!! CRAP CRAP CRAP!

It was the damn space in the name.

Well, that's that mystery solved.

Sorry for the poor assumptions of the 64-bit host on my part.

When I tested it on my 32-bit win7 install I clearly went with the defaults, which is why it worked. Sigh...

Oh well, at least we have an answer and hopefully this thread may really help someone in the future.

SOLUTION: Do NOT have a space in any part of the name for your ZebraCM VST.

Things can be so easy sometimes but yet bug one so much... glad you're sorted now. :)

I also realise you havent provided any proof of it not working on your system. ;)

(Repost as they addressed me to this subforum...)

I recently changed my old PC and bought a new one with Windows 8 solely dedicated to music; when I installed my DAW (Reaper 4 64 bit) and my VST Zebra CM, the synth I used for 75% of my music was not recognized in the list of available plugins. I tried to correct the file vstplugins.ini and to add the msvcr71.dll in the windows system as explained elsewhere in the forums but nothing happened (guess it works only with 32 bit systems).
Any help ? If I can't use zebra CM this will be as close to a disaster as I can get as it is definitely my reference synth...
Thank you in advance

try linking the .dll to

Program Files/Steinberg/VstPlugins/ZebraCM.dll

check the default paths were used during install:

Program Files/VstPlugIns/u-he/ZebraCM.dll

Program Files/u-he/ZebraCM/Data

ZebraCM is a fabulous instrument. But TyrellN6 and Podolski should not be
left alone, silent in the corner

Cheers
(the u-he synths work in linux using wine/wineasio and reaper,
if things get out of hand :-o windoze-ate-my-zebra :-o

Once all issues are solved with the current round of betas, we'll send an updated ZebraCM to Future Publishing. It'll be 64-bit all over, with VST2/VST3 and AU support.

Thank you: i will check the default paths. Just one clarification: what do you mean with "linking the .dll to" ?
Cheers back !

PS TyrrellN6 2.0 looked good to me but i had problems in running it in reaper as well so I gave up. podolski never tried....

Good question... we were riddled by holidays lately, and now we're all in Satin-Release-Mode... I'll ask...

Post

ok, just heard... our latest internal ZebraCM suffers from the same crash bug that we had experienced with Satin till today. This is supposed to be fixed as of today, and so we'll do another round of testing once Satin is out (set to be released next Monday)

Post

I wondered myself if ZebraCM will EVER get updated... :) (I checked month after month until I simply stopped...last time I asked was like a year ago...)

I wonder how ZCM will sound with my SATIN...
