I've only played around with Monark for 10 minutes or so but WOW. Sounds fantastic. Subbed out the bass sound in the song I was working on with a Monark bass and it's just massive. Maybe too massive!

Finally somebody said it

hate to be a broken record but the bass sounds from this thing are incredibly warm and fat. Pretty impressed actually.

Gold star for using "fat" instead of "phat" :D

What do you guys think the chances of a Monark Demo actually being made available?
Fight Apathy or don't.

Given their previous track record with Reaktor instrument (eg: Razor) demos - not gonna happen.

If you want poly build a MIDI voice assigner / splitter effect in Reaktor, MAX or Logic's environment and use monark on multiple tracks with the same preset slightly tweaked. If you're doing simple cords you can just transpose the MIDI that goes to the other tracks so you can still use one note to trigger it. Adjust panning or use phase adjustment plugs as needed.

Anyway, it's got a nice, big, stupid interface which is nice. I like to sample it and load it in absynth.

I have to take back what I said about Reaktor now, the updates that NI made to it have obviously changed things. Monark sounds amazing, and I think it will be a perfect compliment to Diva similar to how U-NO-LX is, considering how they both use less CPU and targets a specific sound.

On a scale of one to ten? Zero

try setting Gate midi upper limit to 1 from 127 in its properties, you will lose velocity, but neither monophonic version was having it

They did no updates to the Reaktor Core modules since Reaktor 5 hit the streets over 6 years ago. Ergo, no changes in "sound". Just takes knowledge to do things as great as Monark does, utilizing Reaktor Core.

This is what I've been talking for quite some time now.

Post

I thought they made custom modules that are locked in Monark?

They are all made with Reaktor Core. Nothing custom about it. Just two big Core macros are locked - the filter and the amp+envelopes.

Thanks. Now the Poly modification seems to sound normal. :tu:

Anyway by diconnecting the two complex modules from "PK" and "GT" you seem to loose features in the Page B settings (e.g. note priority). Anyway for poly sounds the note priority does not seem to be really important.

In those complex modules while those seem to be totally open i did not find anything where i could get the same result than using the "Note Pitch" module.

Maybe i'll work on a Poly version of my free patches, at least for the patches where this makes sense. I'll also try to post the procedure (with mentioning fluxmind of course) to my thread.

The modified procedure seems to be like this now (thanks to fluxmind again):

1. Enable editing mode, Go to "Panel/Monark/Monark", disconnect from "Volt" cell PK, GT
2. Create "Note Pitch" and "Gate" and connect "Note Pitch" to PK and Gate to GT
3. Go into the "Function" tab of the "Gate" module (right-click and "Properties") and set "Upper Limit (MIDI) to 1 (instead of 127).
4. Still at the same place disconnect "Volt" cell from "Out 1", create "Out Port" and "Audio Voice Combiner" and Connect "Audio Voice Combiner" output to Out 1 and Out 2 and then Connect "Volt" cell output to Audio Voice Combiner input
5. Now go to "Panel/Monark" disconnect Out 2 and connect that Out 2 to Second free Out
6. Go back to "Panel/Monark/Moanrk" and disable "Mono" in "Volt" cells properties
7. Go to back to "panel" click on Monark name and in Properties page enable as many voices as you want (or how many your CPU could handle...)
8. Go to file and save ensemble as Monark Poly, because I don't now how to make a switch for mono/poly yet, so you will have 2 versions, one normal monophonic and one Polyphonic
A few features like e.g. page B settings don't seem to be available now.

Here are two screenshots showing the modifications:

Using two of my Monark patches I just created an audio demo using one instance of the poly modification (see last post) and one instance with a Lead sound:

Monark - Horny Viola Part II (+FXs)

FXs used: ValhallaDSP ValhallaVintageVerb, ERS Dimension D Chorus
patches used: "Viola IW" (slightly modified for polyphonic use), "Horn IW"

Here is an older demo where i use 3 instances of Monark to create "one finger" chords (same patches used):

Monark - Horny Viola Part I (+FXs)

additionally to the FXs of the other demo the Arts Acoustic Big Stone Phase Shifter and the Pitch MIDI effect from Ableton Live were used in this.

UPDATE:
I just added the procedure for a polyphonic Monark (of course with mentioning fluxmind who had the idea) and the new demo at my own Monark thread:

More will hopefully follow and will be published there.
