Tricky-Loops wrote:I think I'll buy Slicex and Vocodex, does anybody have experience with them (good or bad)?. I already have Toxic and Morphine (great for pads), and I'm happy with it, but I still need a good loop slicer and a vocoder...
I use slicex quite a bit, very flexible slicer/sampler, 8 articulations, several filter modes, hand drawn enveloppes for all the parameters. Plus it integrates edison engine and its' tools (so free convo reverb... and scripting). And you can load two loops at a time. I've never used any other slicer mind you, so I can't really compare, but I've never felt the need to use anything else (even for the most idm-ish stuff I make)

All in all I think it's really cool.

I also get that problem with some patches, but a good thing is that number of voices can be reduced, making the load easier on the CPU.

BTW, any reason to get Harmless if Harmor is already bought?

..and that's me too.

Seriously, I paid £32. The latest offer from IL would have had me paying about double that.

Props to JRRShop, I will be purchasing from them again :)

Totally yes, Harmless is an "instant gratification" synth which spits out terrific sounds without much effort. Unless you are a true guru with Harmor, i would say get Harmless.

Am i the only one that loves Poizone? Isnt it a great little bread-and-butter synth??

Do you think it's wortg getting Sawer if i already have Steinberg's Retrologue?
I used to have both (I no longer have Sawer), but Retrologue seems more CPU efficient. I remember that Sawer was terrible in this respect. I think Retrologue is much more flexible and simply more modern. Sawer does have a certain roughness that is hard to achieve with most other synths, but in the mix the difference is all but gone anyway.

I tried Poizone just last week as I always liked its interface and thought that it might sound similar to Sawer. But I was disappointed by the sound, especially the aliasing or whatever that noise is. They should leave the price at 30 bucks for that synth permanently as it is simply not worth more than that.

My brother uses FL and makes all his music using Sytrus. It seems to sound clean, but at the same time rather sterile and plasticky, no matter which patch. I would never use it, even if I got it for free.

I got Harmor for Ableton live 9 the pads blow me away I got it a couple of weeks ago. It could do with some more presets though and more third party presets. Guess I will have to learn it.

Arksun made some amazing presets for it bought those without listening to them because I know he delivers the magic for other synths.

I agree on Poizone, as at the point i was asking about it, the only commercial synth i had was Retroluge and i looked/heard things differently than now.. I definitely don't think i need Poizone if i own Retroluge.

@TonyTony - can you please comment on the Harmless question above? In other words, is there any benefit to buying Harmless if you already own Harmor?

Thanks!

I know i'm not Gol but I have both and use them side by side on many of my tracks.

Harmless is awesome in its' own right, instant gratification ! And you can do stuff with it would be waaaaaay more tedious to do with harmor.

In general if I need something that sounds cool I'll use harmless, if I need something that sounds "complex" like a crazy pad, a texture or a heavily modulated bass I'll fire up his big brother :)
