The current beta is older than the latest stable release.
I'm not sure this is actually worth worrying about. The beta release was to test 64 bit builds, I think the idea is the early teething troubles there are done, and we're back to new releases. New releases will always change things, and changes occasionally cause issues. Worrying whether the website says "stable" or "beta" next to a build number isn't going to get anybody anywhere.

Install the latest version, report issues, they'll get fixed. That's the idea, i think.

It's been so many versions that I can't even tell you.... I think it was when it was rewritten. Are there monitoring softwares or anything that I could prove what's going on?

Thanks!!

Can anyone help me figure this out so that I can get a good report out to Jules? -note: The log file does NOT show when it cuts out, and its a "randomly recurrent" issue. Any help would mean the world.

Thanks!

What EXACTLY happens mate, can you describe in as much detail as possible? You probably already have done elsewhere, but I missed it.

1) Is it audio dropouts playing back, during recording, or both?
2) When they happen does the transport stop or not? Does Tracktion crash or not?
3) Do they always happen at the same point in the same project, or seemingly at random?
4) Do they get worse if you do things that require screen redraws, like zooming in, stretching tracks vertically? Reason I ask is I used to get audio glitches I could cause just by moving the mouse around, on a pc I had a few years back. Never got to the bottom of that actually, doesn't happen on the kit I use these days.
5) Is this when you use a firewire interface? If it happens even when you're just playing the edit back, do you still get it if you change to the onboard audio card, and use ASIO4ALL to drive that or not?
6) What's the processor make and model, how many cores, and more important than absolutely everything else -

*** Have you gone into the BIOS recently and made sure you've disabled everything that fcks with the CPU? Check again, it'll only take five minutes ***

Specifically, disable these features, if you find any of them in the BIOS;

Enhanced Intel SpeedStep (EIST)
AMD Cool 'n' Quiet
Intel Turbo Boost
AMD Turbo CORE
C-States (Some BIOS call this option something like "Disable CPU Idle State for Power Saving", other BIOS let you disable specific C-States, like C1E. Disable anything like that. Leaving C-States on in the BIOS will cause audio glitches.)
Hyper-threading
Hyper-V

Apologies if you've been through all that before Ron, I know you've been doing this stuff for years. But those BIOS changes really will help, if you've not already been there.

I'm gonna chip in here.
Ive just flogged a PC and bought a Mac.
I went through every BIOS tweak under the sun with the PC and could NOT get my n12 desk to stay connected.
I literally filled a side of A4 paper with all the different stuff i tried.
I did fresh install of Win 7 twice.
Legacy/non legacy, C states, turbo, Speed stepping etc...
Disabled core parking in the registry blah blah blah...
That's not to denigrate what Chico has suggested, this obviously works for plenty of people and is solid advice.
I'm not sure if my problems lay in Windows 7 or the hardware of the PC.
I did flip out the firewire card for a NON TI card and my CPU spikes halved instantly. That was on an ASUS MOBO.
So it goes to show that the common accepted wisdom of TI being the best isn't always the case.
And all the while, while T was losing touch with the n12, my DPC latency was a sea of green. So that didn't help. Told me nothing.

I would strongly suggest you get your machine looked at, if you run that process checker mentioned elsewhere that might show you that there's a spike somewhere.
But i had ZERO success identifying it.
As Chico said a few days back, staring blankly at process monitors and the like gets you nowhere.
I wasted 3 weeks of my life with that f++++++g PC.

I'm now running a Mac Pro with Mountain Lion and it hasn't shat itself once in 2 days.
No tweaks.
Took it out of the box, installed T4, then Yamahas drivers, plugged it up, and it worked. Bliss. On paper its not as powerful as the PC i had, but it works, and it will be powerful enough.

I'm on a curve with a Mac now and its certainly throwing up problems of its own.Just found out theres no Duende Classic driver for Mountain Lion.
But at least the foundations are strong.

I won't use a PC for music again.
XP was the high water mark.

T4.3.0 keeps crashing on me - simply auditioning projects and testing plugs that work fine on 4.2.1... nothin' too fancy.

4.3.0 will not sound unless I turn e-to-e off and then back on.

Also keeps asking for my password when it crashes... I'm not even sure that I knows it's running a legit copy!

As I said... 4.2.1 was rock solid for me.

Window XP Home, SP3, Intel core2duo. Had very few, if any problems with 4.2.1

Any ideas?

EDIT: I ran for a few hours today without a crash!

I think I found another sticky bit and that would be that the default value for clip properties is that the auto temo is on... wouldn't things be easier if that were set to off? I dunno! :D

I think everyone is having some sort of issues with the 4.3.0 build , might have something to do with the cross platform linux beta release which is nice to see happen , Im sure there will be more betas rolling out soon, seems like T4 is being worked on often , which is a real good thing 4.2.1 seemed to work good , but still had some bugs too , my audio device would have an occasional drop out or disconnect but not while recording yet and I still have a rendering issue with one of the plugins I use while used in a rack , I have a firewire interface and I think so does rpc9943 , he has problems with the drop outs too , I have an echo audiofire4 and I think he has a presonus firebox I think ? rpc9943 correct me if im wrong here on your audio interface being firewire ?

Post

Yes it's firewire presonus firebox.. I haven't had time to document everything but it's a simple issue just not exactly reproducable on command...

Yes, sorry. I spoke too soon. Not quite behaving indeed.
