@Theo, thanks for the clear explanation and workarounds for the PDC issues!
I'm about to add Live 9 to my arsenal but this issue is really holding me back.
From what I could find on the matter this is known since Live 6 or 7 and the reasons why it can't be fixed supposedly are that it's hardcoded deep in the software and much of the original developers jumped ship to Bitwig.
Then again, I also read some users aren't affected by it at all -such as Mushy Myshy claims. I hope he can provide a video as well.
For now I'm gonna try to see if I can reproduce the issue myself but once again thanks for taking the time to clearify!

His autyomation wasn't exactly before the kick though. If you copied his exaclty, it might not have been delayed enough from your plug-in to cut into the kick sound. Try putting the volume mute automation right before the kick.

I just tried it on Live 8 on my MacBook Pro and the automation (Track Volume) with Pro-Q set to max latency is appearing in the right place. The playhead is out, but the audio sounds the way it should. I've placed the cuts very close to the hits.

if anyone out there can replicate either outcome.. if you could upload a project file that would be amazing. it will give a ton of other people a chance to try it on their systems.
