Oh good grief Howie, that's really bad! (even by your standards :P)
I love it!

Another quicky...
Wiffenesque (a homage to Paul Wiffen's most famous patch)

The notes you don't play creates the silent gaps for you to hear the notes you do play :phones:

Just for fun... Pink Floyd meets Daft Punk :)

All zebra (except the drums) - guitars, bass, soft Rhodes, and 'vocal'

Hey You

I am aware it's not normal but i am really jealous at Zebra sound programming skills of some individuals :?

I want that :x

Thank you - I try ;)

The track was created to test the guitars and Rhodes which were custom-made patches.

I spent ages working on a fretless bass patch only to decide that Howard's 'Jazz Dogbox' was better :bang:

The 'vocal' was also one of Howard's (Lafta Yoga :tu:) - I can't sing to save my life, and the track sounded wrong without a lead line!
Of course, one could argue that it sounds even more wrong now :hihi:

Ed,
The 'Hey You' turned out better than I anticipated. I'd like to see if you can do a Zebra patch emulating the lead slide guitar in 'Run Like Hell' (for ages I wondered if it was synth or guitar until I saw the Floyd in concert around 1987). I couldn't find a live video with the slide guitar lead, though this is how Rick Wright did it:

Maybe it's wishful thinking, though I wouldn't be surprised if Zebra could make a better sound than this video.

I'm not sure if that's a complement or not :hihi:

I wish I was that good at making custom patches - I tend to noodle around, randomly tweaking things until I stumble upon something I like.
For every example you hear here (?), there are probably 20 that I threw away!

My other secret is to carefully select/craft the demo to show off the patch; the patches may not sound that good in isolation, but with the right playing style they can come to life

talking of which - here's the beginnings of an acoustic guitar.... (not quite there yet)

Ditto.

Fortunately, I have a slightly younger assistant who does this thankless job for me (and he even pays me for the privilege!) ;-)
¡Olé!
Yep, just some clever pitch modulation (dynamic pitch envelope, drift) and maybe more "noise". Really good start there, Ed!

Ed,
Yes that was meant as a compliment. Much of the time, the "acoustic guitar" sounds surprisingly realistic (another compliment!). :)

If you ever stumble across the lead synth sound(s) on this song ("Frankenstein") with Zebra, I'd be dying to check it out:

A few iterations later... slightly warmer tone, more fret noise/squeaks, and a subtle 'guitar vibrato' that sneaks-in on longer notes :)

Excerpts from Aranjuez - Version 2 (quite long)

Post

Ed,
It is sounding mo better. I wouldn't mind checking out that patch if you are inclined. :D
