Sequent wrote: But that's just the thing... I have several options to choose from in my tool set. Not really interested in being a beta tester at the moment, too many things going on. And as people were mentioning in the iLok thread... Never ever never mess with things in the middle of a project! :)

Yes we consider them all as "public/customer betas" until we also include the AAX format. This should happen by the end of June. Completely understandable if you want to wait until then, no problem. Other minor enhancements and feature additions may be done during this period also.

FYI, AFAIK there are zero known issues with the Breeze and B2 "betas".

There are a couple minor ones with Aether:

1) Logic 32bit will crash if you load Aether AND B2 or Aether AND Breeze. (we just need to give another update to Breeze and B2.)

2) Crashes can occur if you scroll through the preset browser too fast.

3) VST in Live does not show up. (AU does)

Well actually 2 and 3 likely effect all three plugs. But 2 and 3 also affect the previous versions as well, and are not new. So the current "betas" are not really some first gen beta's that should be expected to be buggy and unstable. They simply are not quite 100% feature complete compared to everything we want to accomplish with this update cycle (i.e. we still need to add AAX.) We consider them suitable for real production needs.

Since AAX only effects smallish percentage of our customers, we did not want to make the rest of you wait for it. And it is good to have extra feedback while we still have everything on the operating table just in case anything else needs to be done that we are not aware of.

If anyone has pet peeves or requests etc. that have not been addressed, now is the time to tell us, so that we can consider them and implement solutions. Our reaction time should be lightning fast now that most of the work of this cycle is done.

thanks for keeping us up to date Andrew. The main thing I was waiting for is the change to the preset management.

... Just a note... the Aether VST is showing up fine for me in Live 9.0.4 (32 & 64 bit OSX).

Really? Shoot, I wonder what's different about my system. I'm using the 9.05 beta, I wonder if that matters. I'll try with 9.04.

Are you on Mountain Lion? Do you see the VST as a folder as well? (Not saying that matters necessarily just curious)

Hi there,

I'm on ML too (10.8.3)

Just tried it on the 9.0.5b2 and after rescanning plugins it showed up fine and loaded.

Not sure if this makes any difference but I directed the VST to be in a custom folder ('Reverbs') within the VST root folder.

It's also showing up as a normal-looking VST icon here, not as a folder.

Hmmm, I could try putting it in a folder, not sure if that'll do anything.
What's a normal looking vst icon though? Mine is usually just a blank file (unknown file). Can't help but think it's more than a coincidence that it looks like a folder in my Finder and Live doesn't see it. Maybe it is though.

I'll check later tonight on the VST in Live (9.0.4). I only did my testing on the AU version (sent an email to Andrew with the results, but no bugs found so far).

If anyone is worried about breaking projects, I can add that Aether 1.6 (AU on Mac) successfully loaded all the previous settings in old projects (and I started with a test project using a custom preset just to be sure).

I backed up my presets before installing but nothing was overwritten or lost despite the new preset manager (actual folder locations were moved compared to previous Aether release, but again... nothing was broken, lost or deleted).

Andrew,Thanks for the public beta.I've been testing it and enjoying Den's presets.
the new preset browser is very handy.

However when I changed presets using arrow keys in the preset browser,Cubase crashed.I'm using Cubase7.0.4 x64 on Windows7 x64.
This would be the issue that you said.

It was not too fast to change presets,I guess. So far, this is the only one big issue for me.

Do you plan to fix this issue? if so, When?

I've just completed the double-size "HD" Aether skin. This will be part of the final 1.6.0 update (with AAX support). Check it out:

Very nice if you have a big monitor. :!:

Any new builds available? Am I alone with this issue of Ableton not recognizing it or is it something that's been reproducible yet?

cheers

Well, we are on 118 internally now. 113 is what you guys have. We'll likely give you 119 tomorrow.

We could not reproduce this ourselves.

Does anyone else have issues using VST in Live?
