PPG Choir
omfg sounds like the real thing, if not better!
you made it through plain synthesis or you used the wavetozebra thingy?
I use sq8l for these sort of choirs but maybe i should finally jump on zebra

PPG Choir
:tu: :singer: Excellent Ed. Did you use your own WT's or a pair of OSC already available?

Ah, the Ensoniq SQ80/VFX, some of my all time favourite hardware synths :)

SQ8L has the advantage of using real samples (all be it fairly short ones) and some of ensoniq's neat features.
On the other hand, Zebra has much deeper programming possibilities...

My own WT (loosely based off the original PPG one), plus a lot of detuning/modulation tricks

The choir I posted to the preset library a while back is probably a bit more 'realistic'; PPG choir is bright, buzzy and 'synthy'.

for comparison, using the same sequenced data
Pseudo-real Choir vs. PPG Choir

Yeah, I kind of thought that last one sounded a bit "clean" and unquantized to be PPG. I love that buzzy character. The Blofeld features better quantization when modulating its tables BUT someone posted a trick on Waldorf forum about how to use modifiers to get back that quantized sound as prev Waldorfs and Wave had. I read somewhere about these detuning of the formant tables to get these choir sounds. I forgot where I saw that exactly. Takes a bit of adjustment to get it sounding 'right'. Cheers!

My god it's full of stars! Thanks for the excellent previews pdxindy. :)

Could you possibly thicken the suspense any more? :-o

But yea, they should take their time. One thing I like about U-he is they don't rush products and they take the time to fix bugs from the betas. I can't deal with plugins that crash the host no matter how good they sound.

Thanks... and welcome!

I had some equipment failures and have not been making any music for the past 6 weeks. Am back up and running again and I rather missed playing Diva and Zebra. Here is a new sound I just made with Zebra. 2 held notes. I suppose the preset should be called Bitches Brew or some such ;-)

"Pitches Brew" (fantastic sound, BTW!)

I experienced similar hiatus because of a bad motherboard in that laptop. the whole thing sucked. I was also in the middle of a big project :( Anyway, glad you're back in the saddle.

I don't have words... just, NICE. :tu: If that giant spider that lives in our old wash house got hold of guitar and amp I am sure might sound similar. Cheers!

pdxindy,
You're such a tease, how long do we have to wait to try it! ;)

Hey!
Now that I'm finally online again I'll try to keep the first post up to date again! Thanks for posting all the nice examples :)

I hope there is no MP3 link limit for a single post :hihi:
If I don't sleep I'll maybe have the first post updated this evening (I'm already reuploading my examples and copying some links at the moment) :hihi:

Thanks again and sorry for not updating the post for so long!

Cheers
Dennis
