Logic Pro X is here with no 32-bit support or bridge: What now?

Hi all,

Does anyone know if you can host Sylenth1 in Maschine under Logic X?

I probably will not be upgrading Logic if I can't use Sylenth1

While I can understand the peoples anger, most of them are funny. First of all, lets look at the facts. No major update has been done to sylenth recently, so everyone thinks its dead. OK. But since the synth is still sold on the website, its probably still bringing money to the company, so its not dead. From a business point of view do people really think Lennard will write on his website: this plugin is dead, dont buy it anymore, buy a new synth instead? Of course he wont. He will keep selling it as long as there is interest for it, and seeing how its one of the most successful synths ever, I dont think it will die soon.

The second thing is, people act like princesses. When you bought the synth you knew the cold brutal fact: its 32 bit only. Is it Lennards fault that you are switching to a 64 bit only environment? Its your own decision to keep up with technology and go with Logic X with no 32 bit support. No one forced you. Is it Lennards fault that Logic X took away 32 bit? No its Apples fault. Go to apple and send them an email, or start a petition on petition.org or something.

Now I also understand the everyone says that its software and it can be updated and it should have support for the latest technology, and I respect that. But a little grown up mentality wouldn't hurt sometimes. Lennard never lied to you. When you bought the plugin did it say somewhere in the agreement that a 64 bit version will come? No. He sold a 32 bit plugin, and you got what you paid for. You bought the 32 bit plugin, and the choices you make in the future Lennard has nothing to do with them. We have no idea about Lennards background or life so we shouldn't act like we do, and start demanding left and right...

Sylenth's lastest functional, but not bug free, version is a beta... do i have to say more?

when i bought S1, everything was 32bit. but...progress happens. and now, in logic X, i am good, as ALL my plugins are 64bit...EXCEPT S1. it's important for ANY developer to keep up with OS upgrades. your point is like: i bought photoshop cs2, and now it doesn't work with OS X 10.8. why did apple do this? apple didn't...it moved forward, and every active developer moves forward as well...or falls behind.

S1 hasn't seen an update in years; it IS a damn shame...

developers, like everyone else in the world, move forward...or fall behind, then die...

There are some plugins such as Vienna Symphony Library that actually will let you run 32 bit plugs (supposedly, and pricey at $3xx) from within Logic X and maybe someone will step up with a better solution for things like Sylenth 32.

maschine has a seperate 32 and 64 bit executable, neither can load the other type. so you could run the 64 bit maschine in logicX, but it wouldnt be able to load the 32bit sylenth.

yes, it works with maschine (tested)

alternatively you could just wrap the VST and avoid maschine alltogether (jBridge will still be required)

so yes, sylenth1 and LX do work together

Well....yes, but how do you get the JBridged 64 bit VST as an AU in Logic? I'm a bit confused, I thought JBridge didn't work with AUs.

Couldn't have said it better myself. Oh well... maybe the word DRAMA QUEENS are better. Year after year after year there have been doomsday-threads about the death of Sylenth and the world as we know it. Seriously. Yes, it's a damn shame Lennard isn't more communicative, like Andy from Cytomic - or Urs from U-he - but that's how he is. He's a quiet man. Do any of you guys remember all the drama and crazyness that was going on here when Sylenth was still made with SynthEdit? He didn't keep us up to date with the development and suddenly one day the conversion was ready.

Honestly - I actually believe he will come out with something. Probably something new. But who knows...

Without turning this into a hardware software debate - I must say that this is the main reason why I'm buying more and more hardware instead of plugins. One day, for some reason of the other, the support will dropped for most plugins and a few computer generations later they are unusable. With software, these kind of issues are unfortunately inevitable.
