There is an easy and elegant solution to this mess. Any developer who wishes to improve his product should consult with Lennard before doing so. They should start a thread here politely asking if it is OK with Lennard to do so, and ask if the planned improvements would in any way conflict with Lennard's plans to not improve Sylenth1. The developer should then sit quietly and wait for a formal response. Problem solved.

maschine has a seperate 32 and 64 bit executable, neither can load the other type. so you could run the 64 bit maschine in logicX, but it wouldnt be able to load the 32bit sylenth.

alternatively you could just wrap the VST and avoid maschine alltogether (jBridge will still be required)

it would be kind of cool for those who care to post which plugin you are using to host the jbridged sylenth in Logic X rather than a teaser screenshot. Seriously, for me i don't care anymore, but there are plenty who would love that info from you. I posted advice but it's all hypothetical as i have no way of actually testing if my proposed solutions will work. You seem to have one that definitely works (100% stable so far? no crashes/glitches?)

The extra info would be most welcome

So, as LPX is AU only, what VST->AU converter can you use? I can see jBridgeM does the 64bit VST plugin wrapping, but that's to run on a 32/64bit VST host.

maschine hosts VSTs.
you could also wrap it.

I use Bidule to play Synth1 in Logic 9. It seems Bidule isn't playing nice in LX just yet, so I can't say yet that it's working there. Off to file a bug...

This is actually a clever move by Apple.

By forcing people to use 64-bit plugs, logic is pulling the rug from the companies that are lazy enough to depend on their 32-bit plugins. No one wants to lose sales from the most popular DAW for producers. Eventually everyone will move towards 64-bit instead of using their 32-bit versions as a cushion.

I think it's a shit pickle. I think it's unacceptable that in the year 2013 plugs are not x64. I also can totally understand someone being po'ed that there isn't a bridge that used to be there.

While I can understand the peoples anger, most of them are funny. First of all, lets look at the facts. No major update has been done to sylenth recently, so everyone thinks its dead. OK. But since the synth is still sold on the website, its probably still bringing money to the company, so its not dead. From a business point of view do people really think Lennard will write on his website: this plugin is dead, dont buy it anymore, buy a new synth instead? Of course he wont. He will keep selling it as long as there is interest for it, and seeing how its one of the most successful synths ever, I dont think it will die soon.

The second thing is, people act like princesses. When you bought the synth you knew the cold brutal fact: its 32 bit only. Is it Lennards fault that you are switching to a 64 bit only environment? Its your own decision to keep up with technology and go with Logic X with no 32 bit support. No one forced you. Is it Lennards fault that Logic X took away 32 bit? No its Apples fault. Go to apple and send them an email, or start a petition on petition.org or something.

Now I also understand the everyone says that its software and it can be updated and it should have support for the latest technology, and I respect that. But a little grown up mentality wouldn't hurt sometimes. Lennard never lied to you. When you bought the plugin did it say somewhere in the agreement that a 64 bit version will come? No. He sold a 32 bit plugin, and you got what you paid for. You bought the 32 bit plugin, and the choices you make in the future Lennard has nothing to do with them. We have no idea about Lennards background or life so we shouldn't act like we do, and start demanding left and right...

Obviously its not Lennards fault we are switching to X, and obviously its not his fault that Apple is retiring 32bit plugins, but that doesn't change the fact that he runs a business, and in a business, the primary objective should be to satisfy the customer and provide innovative solutions to their problems. The fact that he has not released a 64 bit version by now, but I can create one with jBridge in 10 seconds is nothing short of PATHETIC! I really do think he should take some responsibility for his lack of effort bringing the product to today's standards (particularly when such big names rely on it). If having this view makes me a princess, then I'm Princess PEACH!

P.s. to those that asked. You can get FXPansion VST to AU converter for $100. Use that to convert your jBridge converted VST in logic. Not that we the customers should have to go to that much trouble!

I sent him an email last night. I don't expect him to respond. I basically said he's created a fantastic product that I use every day and I would hate to see it go by the wayside due to a technicality so trivial.

People shouldn't send him hate mail about this. It's not gonna lead them anywhere!

I kind of feel bad for him. he made something really special and you'd expect people to cheer him on.
instead people turned on him pretty quickly when they didn't like the customer service. Personally, I've had 5 pretty stable years of using this so I can't really complain that much.

I can't imagine this whole AU programming bit to be easy, so I'll just cut him some slack; I'll wait for an update or find a good replacement.

Good thing about Logic Pro X is you can still run the Logic 9 version for older projects, so there is still a way to work around this problem.
