Yes, that's entirely possible. We could release a public beta today, but it won't help if one can't open the presets or songs made with it when we release the final version. We would have hundreds of upset users all over us. Hence we chose the lesser evil of delaying it until it's finished. Unfortunately there's more involved than we expected.virtualmark wrote:So it's gone from a June release to "days or weeks". Wow, not trying to be rude but this sucks! Personally I couldn't care less about Satin, I've just been looking forward to the promised update on Diva! I've been checking the website regularly for the past few weeks, what a waste of time. So it could be next year now by the sounds of it?
So when are Diva 1.3 and Satin coming out ?

I BARELY CAN'T WAIT FOR THE NEW DIVA
BUT TAKE YOUR TIME TO MAKE IT RIGHT
There is nothing more annoying than broken software. It wastes your time and tarnished the name of the developer.

Absolutely...
Sure, I'd love Diva right now, we all would.
BUT I'd rather wait for the right release. There's no point in releasing something that will only frustrate its users.

Ha, personally I'd take the beta, even if it means I can't save. I just want to play with those new modules!

As front-end web developer, I know how programming deadlines go. You have three choices, either give a deadline based on your current projections barring any issues, double you projection and be sure to meet your deadline, or not say anything at all. Most companies prefer to do the latter.
BitWig, for example, has been "Beta, coming soon" for YEARS. When are they projected to release? Status, anyone, anyone? Is abject silence also the kind of support I should expect too? Frustrating... maybe I'll stick to Live.
U-he's practice is more one of transparency. And that is veeery much appreciated. So what if they miss a deadline. At least you know why, and that they are working on it. They've earned my loyality like no other company has - plus I learned about Satin trolling for Diva updates

Me too. Too bad versions weren't chunked into 1.3 "New Oscillator and Filter, yay!" (all old users happy and small-medium wave of new buyers) and 1.4 "New Arpz and Sequencerz Abilities with cool new modulation options (rtfm)" (old users happy again and another mediumer wave of new buyers, hopefully).DrGonzo wrote:Urs wrote:

Doesn't matter much, though. Urs is still wise to keep ahead of the curve and upgrade Diva a few steps before others catch up with current Diva. And when all that runs out of steam in a few years U-he can still be all like "yeah, but ya forgot automatable led colors. We had that for like years! freakin' light show right on your synth. dang!"

please release a public beta and add the hint, that you cant open any presets in future versions. voila.
Please, Please! Urs.
(I not mad ... just cant wait anymore)
BITWIG keeps teasing and teasing and there is no open beta at all.
(ive signed up for beta in january 2012 and havnt recieved anything since that date). I stopped waiting there.
but at least the u-he team/ urs tells us a deadline, which is really fine.

We're trying our best, really... developing software is a bit of an adventure - there's always another unexpected turning point around the corner

There are other people who would be pissed off if all the presets they saved with the beta (alpha) did not work correctly later. No offense, but what you want is not the only consideration a developer must consider...Trancestorm wrote:you know what? i would totally give it a shot. i do not care about saving presets, but just want to play with it. i waiting only for diva, because satin is good, but im also not so interested.Urs wrote:Yes, that's entirely possible.
