But sometime it sounds like she isn't 100% sure of the melody.

uiiii, thanks luCiPher, what a nice complimentluCiPHer wrote:i REALLY like this one
not really proggy, but i'm not really a prog fan
i like almost everything about this song, especially the piano and the vocals![]()
the first kick in of the beats sounds a bit too cheesy to me (we can never hide...), but that's about all i can critic
thanks for your nice words and the good advices, ToneToneDunce wrote:Great work!
Something is wrong about the mix though, (I am currently listening on high quality headphones). The bass/kick submix seems buried and lacks the massive punch one would expect here.
The general feeling I get is that it would start sound much more catchy if you attacked it with the "make it more resonanty sounding" mindset. Maybe even including the vocal in that plan!
If you made the lyrics simple and catchy (would make life easier for your great vocalist too!), I think this song has EVERYTHING to be a massive hit!
I vote for less long words, more vocal emotion and a brighter mix for the voice!

thanks moreliamorelia wrote:I really liked this until the vocal started. When the vocal started it took me a while to listen past the out of tune singing. When I did though I really really liked the music. The piano was my fav part.
surely not prog!vurt wrote:surely not prog?![]()

Hmm, bit difficult to comment on the mix/mastering etc - the file is 22k encoded, weird!
Definitely too much reverb for my tastes (as ever....), everything could do with being a lot more up front , especially the vocal. You could probably chop about a minute and a half out of it too - that bit in the middle meanders on far too long.
Singing is a bit out of tune, probably lacks confidence as you said she's only just started. How are you doing the vocal monitoring? Can she hear herself properly. Some singers sing better with reverb on the vocal in the monitor mix, others (like me!) sing better without any effects. Worth trying both ways.
One old trick is to sing with one side of the headphones on, and one side off, sometimes it helps to get a direct idea of hjow your voice sounds.
