I see, that we've got different views
First of all: What do you want to achieve with this new layer system???
The only reason I can imagine for sounddesign/respectfully, which would make sense, is to have the ability to dial in different "scales" for the unison... everything else can be more easily and faster achieved by using 2 instead of one Oscillator...
For reaching different "scales" (don't know, if this is the right term) it would make much more sense to me, to have different options to choose from like
-linear
-logarythmic
-exponential
-negative exponential
...
This would be an absolutely highlight to have...
This would mean more work for you, but much much much much much less work for every user
Same would be valid for the stereo spreading...
Everything else doesn't make any sense, because you either would not hear any difference or it would sound absolutely weird or it's easier to use a second Oscillator (and have even more options)...
So again the question: Why do we need the new system like it is now????
Second of all: Why do you think has no other Synth a Unison system like this exclusively???... To be honest, there is only one instrument I am aware of, which uses a system like this, but only for the reason, that you got the ability to choose a different waveform for each unison voice too...
I can only imagine 2 logical reasons for:
1. There is for 99% of all sounds simply no need for such detail, especially with higher voice count
2. It's an absolutely PITA to work with and again big NO, presets don't help at all... the finetuning stays "theoretical and non realtime" simply because you cannot move 9 detune values with different directions at once and if you have to move them seperately you loose the reference to the sound and the other values for sure...
Sorry Jo, but still in my opinion, that's not the right way...
Please, please can you offer the previous version for me... I simply cannot work with this new one!!!
