I think if you consider why the rules are there, you'll be able to judge for yourself. Modulation effects are banned because good synth programming should be able to modulate the synth without need of a chorus effect, (by detuning for example.) Pitch effects shouldn't be needed, because all of that can be done with MIDI. I think the rules are there to make you stick to the original character of the synth, so that it sounds like itself and your skills as a programmer can be shown off more clearly. Does that help at all?

Yes it's like already said, but if in doubt use any of the plugins on the OSC list here: https://sites.google.com/site/kvrosc/re ... ed-plugins

These are all allowed?V'ger wrote:Yes it's like already said, but if in doubt use any of the plugins on the OSC list here: https://sites.google.com/site/kvrosc/re ... ed-plugins.
If I had known it, I would have used some of these instead of some others!
But I always use pitch shifters (some cents, not octaves!) and (formant) filters, too, and I cannot substitute them.
I guess now it's too late, anyway. I'll release my song in a few weeks when the contest is over...

Reminder to all to name your track entries properly: Artist - Track name This goes for both file and SoundCloud.
..and also to make sure the track is downloadable (at SoundCloud).

I like to thank everyone so far for the nice comments on my track. Just to reply to some of them here: I did not use quantization because I wanted to keep the live feel of the track. I'm pretty impressed myself of what is possible with CM101, especially that piano-sound. I can see that one making it into other tracks even. I'm sure I can push CM-101 even further if I have more time (as in 'outside of the OSC'), so I might do some more patches for it, and as someone requested, I will release the patches at least here at KVR after the submission deadline has passed
Also, participating in the OSC has kicked me into composing again after many years (together with the fact that I have rebuild my studio and Reaper setup recently). So I really want to thank everyone here for creating and sustaining such a inspirational vibe and community

Wow, asked this before and got a different answer (I think from bjporter). Same as psmacmur that means I have to upload as a new track. That will also loose the comments made on the track so farV'ger wrote:This goes for both file and SoundCloud.

Just as well I read this correctly now, and not in a few days time. The actual file had a different name. I made that mistake last month. Doh.... :/crimsonwarlock wrote:V'ger wrote:This goes for both FILE and SoundCloud.
Paid accounts are worth it.
Ps, I've uploaded the Dominator presets (32 x fxp files) which I created for my track. AboveThoughts has also uploaded some Dominator presets....

Yeah shame to lose the comments when uploading a new file..
The rule about naming is mostly for voting 'legibility' and there is no doubt that any mis-naming likely will hurt the entrant most during the vote anyway. Because of that, and the realization that there has never really been a time when the names were all correct, there has traditionally been a high tolerance on this point so you might take your chances..

Listening right now to the entries ... absolutely great.
Wished I'd contribute as well with something, but no CM to find to buy.
Hopefully some of the next oscs will use free synths. Altough I don't mind if CM is sponsoring the prizes as well
Good luck to everybode, I'm looking forward to listening to all tracks
Cheers
Sonny

Thanks for replying. Still I like the good old physical copy. Digital copies on my computer tend to mysteriously vanish.
I guess you can't teach an old dog new tricks...
